Think back to the early 1980's. Think back to director Frank Henenlotter. Think back to a little film known as Basket Case. While clearly not a film for all tastes including mine, the film definitely had cult classic written all over it. Now enter director Neil Meschino of the film Mold!. While Mold!, starring Edward X. Young, Ardis Campbell, Robert Fattorini, Chris Gentile, Lawrence George, Rick Haymes, Mike Keller and director Neil Meschino, isn't as boundary pushing as Basket Case, it captures the same spirit, the same tone as Basket Case. Working in the film's favor is the fact that it is more commercial and accessible then Basket Case, yet it is its own unique film. It's different. It has edge. It has something to it. Could director Neil Meschino have a possible cult classic on his hands? Only time will tell, but just in case Mold! does reach that...

If you like your horror movies gooey, gory, and gross, then Neil Meschino's slimy Eighties throwback Mold! might be what you're looking for. The first trailer gives us a taste of the ickiness to come when mutant mold infects a military installation.
Set in 1984, when the war on drugs was at its height, the story concerns a strain of mold developed by the government to wipe out Colombian coca fields. Unfortunately, during a demonstration the mold gets out of control and proves to be deadly to more than just vegetation.
Meschino's independent horror comedy from writer Dave Fogerson is currently in post-production and prepping for a film festival run. The first teaser trailer gives us a good indication of what to expect when this Mold! finally gets unleashed upon us all.
Thanks to Avery for the tip.
