The son of British and American parents, Marty was born in the UK but grew up and made his start in music in Australia. Since 2013 he has been living in Scotland as new opportunities in film and production music lured him away from his successful career as one of Australia's busiest musicians. Marty lives in Edinburgh and works from his base at Chamber Studios in Granton.
Marty continues to work as musical director for international cabaret sensation Le Gateau Chocolat's show, ICONS (recently completing a sell out season at Soho Theatre Dec-Jan 2017). Marty is assistant MD for the original modular circus show La Clique and MD for the Edinburgh Fringe award winning The I Hate Children Children's Show from San Francisco. A regular performer at The Edinburgh Festivals since 2010 Marty has worked alongside acts Jody Trehy (Ireland), Jack Lukeman (Ireland), The Shuffle Club (Aus) and Becc Sanderson (UK).
In 2010 Marty won a Helpmann award for the score to the highly successful stage show Smoke & Mirrors with iOTA and in 2012 went on to write and perform in 'Empire', which played on Broadway NYC and then went to tour the world. In 2013 he composed the music and sound design for the critically acclaimed Workhorse Theatre company production of 'The Motherf**ker With The Hat' . Marty played Krzyzhtoff in the 2006/07 production of Hedwig & The Angry Inch in Australia and has been a regular performer and MD in the Adelaide Cabaret festival alongside the likes of Trevor Ashley, Bob Downe, Caroline O'Connor, Michael Falzon and Catherine Alcorn
