Disney is preparing to tackle their next live-action remake, giving “Moana” a 2025 release date. The studio announced a lengthy string of release dates and announcements for their 2024-2031 slate on Tuesday, including the date for “Moana.”
The film will open on June 27, 2025, which gives it a prime summer release date away from what could be a congested July 4th weekend.
The film won’t star original voice actress Auli’i Cravalho in the title role but the plot will remain the same, focusing on a young woman named Moana who wants to be a seafaring voyager. When her island home is threatened Moana must go forth onto the sea, alongside a demigod named Maui to save her people.
Casting for the title character is still on-going. Cravalho released a statement back in May saying, “I can’t wait to find the next actress to portray Moana’s courageous spirit, undeniable wit and emotional strength.

The Hollywood Reporter said during the panel discussion:
Johnson tackled an age-old question: who would win in a fight, Black Adam or Superman? Earlier in the week, rumors circulated that Man of Steel actor Henry Cavill might show up or send a video message for the panel, but that didn’t come to fruition.
Said the actor of a matchup between the DC characters: “Pound for pound, they are pretty close. I guess it probably all depends on who is playing Superman.

Madrid — Disney’s “Jungle Cruise,” starring Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt, has added Spanish actor Quim Gutiérrez, one of Spain’s most prominent thirty-something actors who broke out last decade.
Directed by Jaume Collet Serra, “Jungle Cruise” will see Gutiérrez play one of the movie’s villains.
Born in Barcelona, Gutiérrez’s big break came in Daniel Sánchez Arévalo’s debut “DarkBlueAlmostBlack,” a rights-of-passage tragicomedy which won star Gutiérrez a Spanish Academy best new actor Goya for his performance as a young janitor attracted to his brother’s prison inmate girlfriend.
Arévalo’s other credits include spy operative comedy thriller “Spy Time,” released in 2015, and Mediaset España’s 2016 mini-series “Cain’s Father,” about the dirty war against Eta terrorism, where he played a by-the-book Civil Guard lieutenant.
Consecration in Spain came in 2016 when Gutiérrez was chosen to model the new Emidio Tucci male fashion line of El Corte Inglés, Spain’s biggest department store chain.

Disney plans to develop the film as a possible franchise in the vein of its billion-dollar “Pirates of the Caribbean” series.
John Davis and John Fox will produce via Davis Entertainment; Beau Flynn will produce with his FlynnPictureCo. banner; and Johnson, Dany Garcia, and Hiram Garcia will produce through Seven Bucks Productions. Scott Sheldon is co-producing the movie, which is slated to go into production in May.
