On Wednesday, June 5, an Italian court upheld Amanda Knox‘s 2009 conviction of slander in which she falsely accused her former boss Patrick Lumumba of murdering her roommate Meredith Kercher. Two days before her latest court trial, the 36-year-old took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share that she would be defending herself once again.
Her post which was shared on June 3 read, “On June 5th, I will walk into the very same courtroom where I was reconvicted of a crime I didn’t commit, this time to defend myself yet again. I hope to clear my name once and for all of the false charges against me.” The retrial got Knox a three-year jail sentence which she will not serve because she already served 4 years following her wrongful conviction of Kercher’s murder.

Fox Nation host Nancy Grace, her husband, mother and teenage twins have all tested postive for Covid-19 and are isolating at home.Grace’s 88-year-old mother was the initial positive test in the family on Monday. She is hospitalized in Georgia. On Wednesday, Grace, her husband, David Linch, and 13-year-old twins John David and Lucy Elizabeth also tested positive. It is unclear what, if any, contact they had with Grace’s mother.
The Daily Mail broke the news.
Former prosecutor Grace left her primetime show on CNN sister station Hln network in October after a dozen years. In November 2019, she joined Fox News’ streaming service, Fox Nation, to host Crime Stories with Nancy Grace, modeled after her Hln network show. Amanda Knox is speaking out after Rudy Guede, the man who was convicted of the 2007 killing of her study abroad roommate Meredith Kercher in Italy, was released from prison. In a blog post, which she also recorded as a bonus episode of her podcast Labyrinths, Knox stated that although the "evidence of Guede's guilt is overwhelming, as is the lack of evidence implicating any other suspect," he still has not "faced appropriate consequences" for his "horrific crime." She pointed out that Guede, who was convicted of sexual assault and conspiracy to commit murder, was sentenced to just 16 years in prison, and was granted day release after 10 years....

The latest buzzy Netflix documentary tells the story of Chris Watts who murdered his pregnant wife Shanann and their two daughters Celeste and Bella. In this doc we hear the 911 call from Shanann’s friend Nickole Atkinson the morning of her death and the police footage of the moments they arrived at the house to find a frantic Nickole and later a very cagey Chris Watts. We see the last text messages Shanann sent and the last moments her daughters were alive. And we see Chris Watts lying about Shanann and their kids’ disappearance mere hours after he had killed them all. It is tough.

The following contains spoilers for every season of Search Party.
On December 17, 2017, the second season of TBS’s mystery comedy Search Party concluded with a full steam of momentum. Dory Sief (Alia Shawkat) had just committed a murder to cover up an accidental murder from season 1, and then is promptly arrested (for the first murder that is). As Dory is ushered into the back of a squad car while still wearing a shapely red dress from the night’s festivities, the future looks pretty bleak for her. For the show, however, the future couldn’t have looked brighter.
Then that future of Search Party never arrived. At least not immediately.
Search Party was created by Sarah-Violet Bliss, Charles Rogers, and Michael Showalter. The show premiered on TBS in 2016 with a thrilling first season that depicted a quarter of Brooklyn millennials who decide to investigate the disappearance of one of their old acquaintances,...

Murder was the Case That They Gave Her: Demoustier Delivers a Chilly Courtroom Thriller
While it’s far from the first film to examine the popular, “how well can someone really know another person” rhetorical question, Stéphane Demoustier gets a lot of uncomfortable mileage out of such musings with his third feature The Girl with a Bracelet. Casting his sister, noted actress Anaïs Demoustier, as an unrelenting prosecutor, the result is an engrossing Gallic remake of Argentinean Gonzalo Tobal’s 2018 The Accused, which competed in the Venice Film Festival (and has yet to secure Us distribution). Not unlike the lurid elements which turned the Amanda Knox trial into a global media frenzy back in 2007, a surprising amount of jealousy and sexuality lurks beneath the façade of normalcy between two teen girls which makes for gripping melodrama in an oft-acrimonious courtroom drama.…...

In July of 2014, 18-year-old Conrad Roy III drove a pickup truck into the parking lot of a Kmart in the small town of Fairview, Massachusetts, filled the vehicle with toxic carbon monoxide and took his own life. He was one of 42,826 suicides in the United States that year.
What turned the incident from a private family tragedy into a media sensation were the circumstances around his suicide: On the day he died and for months beforehand Roy exchanged a cascade of disturbing text messages with his girlfriend, 17-year-old Michelle Carter.
“Conrad was somebody that was suicidally ideating for a good majority of his adolescence,” notes filmmaker Erin Lee Carr. “In the months leading up to his [suicide], instead of getting help, Michelle Carter was somebody that sort of pushed him to do it. And those events led to one of the most infamous Massachusetts cases the state had ever seen.”

At a glance, everything is normal about Amanda Knox. The beloved pet cat, the coffee pics on Instagram, the bearded husband, the disappointment over Andrew Yang exiting the presidential race—all of it screams "young woman just doing her thing in Seattle!" A lot of what came before, of course, was as close to a nightmare as it gets, made all the worse because it was real life. Five years ago, Italy's highest court vacated once and for all Knox's conviction in the 2007 murder of British student Meredith Kercher, a crime that resulted in Knox spending four years in an Italian prison, insisting throughout that she was innocent. Now 32, Knox has worked on setting her own...

Peter Madsen.
Victorian writer/director Emma Sullivan’s feature documentary centred on the aftermath of the brutal murder of a Swedish journalist will premiere in the world cinema documentary competition at the Sundance Film Festival.
Netflix commissioned Into the Deep from Danish producer Mette Heide, who hired Australian producer Roslyn Walker to work with her on the production. Heide produced Amanda Knox for Netflix, an account of the conviction of the American exchange student and eventual acquittal for the 2007 death of another student in Italy.
Sullivan began shadowing the Danish inventor and rocket engineer Peter Madsen in 2016 for a documentary on his workshop, the interns including physics graduates with whom he worked, and his attempt to become the first amateur astronaut in space.
The film took a shocking turn after Madsen was convicted last year of the 2017 murder of Swedish journalist Kim Wall on board his submarine UC3 Nautilus. He was sentenced to life imprisonment.

While their wedding will take place in February 2020, it turns out they are already legally married. According to their marriage license application and certificate obtained by E! News, the pair applied for a marriage certificate in King County in Knox's native Washington shortly after the proposal on Nov. 21, 2018. According to their marriage certificate,...

Exclusive: Witchcraft Motion Picture Company announced today that they have acquired the rights to the psychological horror She Came Back from screenwriter Emily Renee Bennett. Witchcraft’s Rod Blackhurst (Director of Netflix’s Amanda Knox) and Noah Lang will fast-track the feature as the first project optioned under the company’s new underrepresented writer mandate. Blackhurst is set to direct.
Described as if The Haunting Of Hill House took place at The Overlook Hotel, She Came Back is a film about a young woman haunted by the childhood murder of her young sister, and who, upon returning to her hometown, discovers that her sister might not be dead after all.
“She Came Back is a film about mental illness, addiction, guilt, and a strong and vulnerable woman’s struggle for identity,” said Blackhurst and Lang in a joint statement.

There’s a fortune at loose and Adam Sandler is on the case — in fiction and reality. A decade ago, “Murder Mystery,” a caffeinated comedy that stars Sandler and Jennifer Aniston as working class New Yorkers whose European vacation gets handcuffed to a $70 billion corpse, would have raked in a respectable haul at the box office. (The duo’s 2011 romp “Just Go With It” earned $215 million worldwide.) Today, the A-listers are cavorting on Netflix in a film that feels like a postcard from a past era. Turns out the small screen frames their caper flick just fine.
The multiplex may be in peril, but at least it’s faring better than tycoon Malcolm Quince (an imperious Terence Stamp) who saunters into the ballroom of his yacht to announce that he’s disinheriting all of his guests, and is promptly stabbed to death. The suspects could have all rolled in from a game of Clue.

Amanda Knox heads to Italy this weekend to “face her fears” where much of the population still think she’s guilty of murdering her roommate 12 years ago. Like Steve Bannon, Knox is another American export Italians can’t seem to keep out.
But the visit is a good time to remember how the online phenomenon of Amanda Knox was a portent of the Age of Trump, with its elevation and celebration of unreason, as the digital age linked and energized what most charitably could be called “suspicious minds.”

The 31-year-old criminal justice activist was photographed at Milan's Linate airport on Thursday. Sometimes inspiration can strike in unexpected places. For writer and producer Danny Strong, watching a documentary about Amanda Knox proved to be the impetus that led to him co-creating (with David Elliot) the new Fox drama “Proven Innocent.”
“Watching the documentary on her case made me want to do something on wrongful conviction, because I was so enraged by it,” Strong tells Variety. “In these wrongful conviction cases the cops have no interest in them because the person’s been found guilty and is in prison; it’s closed. So wrongful conviction lawyers have to be their own investigators, and it can be very dangerous for them. And I thought, ‘Oh so it’s not just a straight legal show, it’s an investigation show, too’ and that just seemed really cool to me.”

Now Sundance TV and streaming service Sundance Now are preparing to roll out a new slate of true crime documentary series, and Knox’s podcast “will take a detailed look” at the crimes chronicled in the projects.
Knox, who is an executive producer on the podcast series with Christopher Robinson, says she’ll “bring nuance” to the stories told in the documentary series.

Amblin Entertainment has picked up a new film project they will be producing called The White Room. I like that we are seeing Amblin pick up more and more film projects. They have quite the reputation to live up to, and I just hope the films they are currently developing end up living up to the brand name.
The White Room is “a female-driven thriller that takes place over the course of one night in the offseason of the remote Adirondack Mountains. The story unfolds when a mysterious young woman goes missing and it is up to a hardened local widow to find out the truth behind the disappearance, which may have been caused by something inhuman.”
The movie is described as being a mix of Don’t Breathe and Hereditary. The script for the film was written by Bryce McGuire, and Rod Blackhurst (Here Alone, Amanda Knox) is set to direct it.

Amanda Knox is on Instagram. There's nothing too exceptional about that, it's a pretty normal state of affairs. But the photographic evidence of Knox living a normal life is quietly remarkable when you remember that a decade ago she was in an Italian prison awaiting trial on murder charges. Overall she spent four years locked up, from being arrested in 2007, through being convicted of her roommate Meredith Kercher's murder in 2009 and until she was released on Oct. 3, 2011, her conviction overturned on appeal. The Seattle native was back in Washington by the following afternoon. She returned school and wrote a book about her experience, 2013's, Waiting to Be...

Exclusive: Having reunited with Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll co-star Denis Leary for his USA Network pilot Erase earlier this summer, Elaine Hendrix is now joining Fox’s Proven Innocent.
The midseason replacement legal drama from Empire co-creator Danny Strong and writer David Elliot will feature Hendrix in the recurring role of Susan Andrews, I’ve learned. In a cast that includes Kelsey Grammer and Rachelle Lefevre, The Parent Trap alum’s character is a shameless self-promoting TV pundit who has the pull to sway public opinion with her proclamations of guilt or innocence.
Now, I’m not saying Nancy Grace, but you get the general idea that Strong and Elliot are aiming for here, right?
A somewhat fictionalized telling of the Amanda Knox saga, by Strong’s own admission at TCA last month, Proven Innocent sees Lefevre as a crusading lawyer leading a criminal defense team that seeks to free the wrongful convicted.

Kelsey Grammer was among the large ensemble cast of Fox’s Proven Innocent who came to TCA to discuss the button-pushing legal drama from Empire co-creator Danny Strong and writer David Elliott. It’s about a criminal defense firm that focuses on freeing the wrongly convicted, led by lawyer Madeline Scott (Rachelle Lefevre) who had herself been wrongfully convicted, along with her brother, of murder when she was 18.
In June, Kelsey Grammer was cast as Gore Bellows, the prosecutor who initially put away Madeline and still believes in her guilt.
At TCA, Grammer described his Gore Bellows character as “a man of principle who has made mistakes.” But, the actor was quick to challenge the critics, saying there are two sides to this coin. “Is every person in jail innocent? If you go to jail every person [incarcerated there] will tell you so.”
