William Kan, born in Hong Kong, an animated film director and producer, holds the highest accumulated grossing of animated film at the box office in China. He is also the first Chinese animated film director whose grossing achieves to be more than 100 million dollars. Working in the field of creative advertising, visual design, film and television program writing and production for more than 10 years, his early works included Heroic Duo(2003) and Saam Cha Hau(2005) directed by Benny Chan, and he took charge of the art design in Hollywood fiction Ultraviolet. His master series of film, Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf, received numerous awards in Chinese animation.
Meet The Pegasus, his newest film, has been regarded as the best in Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf series by both insiders and outsiders in animation. Zhonglei Wang, the CEO of Huayi Bros. Media Group even honored Meet The Pegasus as the best 2D animation movie and the most successful Chinese animation series. Furthermore, Meet The Pegasus was nominated a Gold Monkey Award in the 10th Chinese International Animation Festival. Till now, all six Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf series of films earned more than 700 million dollars in total. Among them, 4 of the movies were produced by William.
In 2014, William was invited by Stephen Chow to direct the film CJ7, which is the first animated film of Bingo Animation. Meawhile, William has brought out his own original animation brand IronChild. It is an international collection of animated film, TV animation episodes and derivative educational and entertaining programs. IronChild was once invited to the most authorized MIFA exhibition in France and received high reputation. Therefore, many production companies from Europe, the United States, Japan and South Korea show interest in it. As a senior talent in animation creation with rich practical experience, William has been invited to the Chinese University of Hong Kong as a visiting instructor to cultivate a new generation of animation talents.
