Severance is gearing up for its long-awaited return at the beginning of 2025 after concluding its Season 1 run in April 2022. With almost three years between seasons, it’s understandable that viewers may need a bit of a refresher about what happened in the final moments of Season 1’s last episode. As fans will recall, Severance follows a group of workers at a company that goes by the name of Lumon where they’ve agreed to undergo a procedure that “severs” their work persona from their personal lives, forming “outie” and “innie” personalities. When severed employees enter the Lumon building (and take the elevator to the proper floor), their innies are activated, essentially eliminating their outie memories until they exit the building. Severance fans have been suffering from a lack of new content for nearly three years now, but don’t worry, soon, even the show’s producers will be watching the same nine episodes over and over again.

When we last saw the workers of Lumon and the world of Severance — spoilers ahead for anyone who is inexplicably waiting until Ben Stiller and Adam Scott start a podcast together to begin watching their critically acclaimed thriller series — Mark S., Dylan G., Helly R. and Irving B. had just pulled off a daring escape into the world outside the secretive Lumon Industries complex and irreversibly punctured the delicate barrier between Innie and Outtie.

That was on April 8, 2022, and ever since that incredible cliffhanger, Severance has left its audience hanging, waiting for a new thread to pull on, begging AppleTV+ to proceed with a second season that will answer some of our questions and ask many more.

The podcast launches January 7 with two episodes and will release new episodes every week day covering Season 1 of “Severance” until January 16. Once Season 2 premieres on Apple TV+ on January 17, new episodes will be released weekly on Fridays.

“The Severance Podcast with Ben Stiller and Adam Scott is an episode-by-episode, behind-the-scenes breakdown of the award-winning show, conducted with the creators, cast, crew and fans,” per a release.

Stiller, a director and executive producer for the show, will join Scott, star and executive producer, in rewatching season one of the show and sharing “in-depth, never-before-heard analysis” before offering weekly insight as season two releases in early 2025.

“We have severed ourselves from the world for five years making this show,” Stiller and Scott said in a statement. “While we have no memory of what happened during that time, we thought we should do a podcast for all the Innies who will have no recollection of watching, in an attempt to reintegrate them with their memory of the show.”

When “Severance” returns for Season 2 on Jan. 17, its mysteries and cliffhangers will surely leave fans with plenty of burning questions. Enter “The Severance Podcast With Ben Stiller and Adam Scott,” a companion podcast to the sci-fi series that will provide analysis and weekly insights from the show’s star and director.

The podcast will launch with two episodes focused on Season 1 of “Severance” on Jan. 7. In 2022's The Batman, John Turturro played mob boss Carmine Falcone. “Severance” Season 2 finally has teased more of what’s to come for the enslaved Lumon employees, led by Mark (Adam Scott). Along with Mark, coworkers Dylan (Zach Cherry), Helly (Britt Lower), and Irving (John Turturro) are all “learning the dire consequences of trifling with the severance barrier, leading them further down a path of woe,” according to the official synopsis.

Apple TV+ unveiled a trailer for Severance season two on Wednesday, teasing Mark Scout’s (Adam Scott) race to uncover the truth about Lumon Industries.

Severance will premiere its 10-episode second season on the streamer on Jan. 17, 2025, followed by one episode every Friday through March 21.

In the trailer, Mark races up and down the barren hallways of the workplace thriller’s dystopian offices, as the rushed voices of season one’s epic finale play overhead. The return will mark two and a half years since the show first premiered in February 2022.

Things are looking as nerve-wracking as ever for the Lumon employees in the first teaser for “Severance” Season 2.

The second season has been a long time coming and the teaser acknowledges that. It opens with Adam’s Scott’s Mark descending down the Lumon elevator and across the severance barrier. As he makes his way through the maze-like corridors of the office we hear a number of voiceovers.

Intercut into Mark running the halls are quick cuts of what’s to come in Season 2. Eventually he arrives in the green-carpeted work space he knows but is shocked to find his recognizable coworkers Helly (Britt Lower), Irving (John Turturro) and Dylan (Zach Cherry) have been replaced by a mysterious group of new people. One of them happens to be played by Alia Shawkat.

Back in July, Apple TV+ unveiled a teaser trailer for season 2 of their psychological thriller series Severance, which is set to drop its first episode on Friday, January 17, 2025. One episode will follow every Friday through March 21. Following a dizzying Severance Season One finale, Apple TV+ released a Season Two teaser Wednesday for the workplace thriller. It begins with severed employee Mark, played by Adam Scott, stepping out of an elevator and sprinting aimlessly through the white, narrow hallways of Lumon Industries. Mark reaches a screeching halt, when he discovers his microdata refinement coworkers have been replaced by a new cohort of severed employees. Mr. Milchick, the floor supervisor played be Tramell Tillman, then enters with a handful of balloons.

At long last, “Severance” Season 2 is set to premiere on Apple TV+ on Jan. 17, 2025, nearly three years after the first season premiered. When the sci-fi workplace thriller returns, it is sure to resolve some of the cliffhangers that left fans buzzing after the Season 1 finale.

Good news: "Severance" is finally returning for season 2! Bad news: it won't return until next year.
