Severance is gearing up for its long-awaited return at the beginning of 2025 after concluding its Season 1 run in April 2022. With almost three years between seasons, it’s understandable that viewers may need a bit of a refresher about what happened in the final moments of Season 1’s last episode. As fans will recall, Severance follows a group of workers at a company that goes by the name of Lumon where they’ve agreed to undergo a procedure that “severs” their work persona from their personal lives, forming “outie” and “innie” personalities. When severed employees enter the Lumon building (and take the elevator to the proper floor), their innies are activated, essentially eliminating their outie memories until they exit the building. In the finale, the Macrodata Refinement team at Lumon, made up of Mark (Adam Scott), Helly (Britt Lower), Dylan (Zach Cherry), and Irv (John Turturro), came up with a plan...

Severance fans have been suffering from a lack of new content for nearly three years now, but don’t worry, soon, even the show’s producers will be watching the same nine episodes over and over again.
When we last saw the workers of Lumon and the world of Severance — spoilers ahead for anyone who is inexplicably waiting until Ben Stiller and Adam Scott start a podcast together to begin watching their critically acclaimed thriller series — Mark S., Dylan G., Helly R. and Irving B. had just pulled off a daring escape into the world outside the secretive Lumon Industries complex and irreversibly punctured the delicate barrier between Innie and Outtie.
That was on April 8, 2022, and ever since that incredible cliffhanger, Severance has left its audience hanging, waiting for a new thread to pull on, begging AppleTV+ to proceed with a second season that will answer some of our questions and ask many more.

Upon its arrival, Severance became one of Apple’s most acclaimed TV shows, thanks to the impeccable cast, which involved the likes of Adam Scott, Britt Lower, and Zach Cherry. But it was the chemistry between John Turturro’s Irvin and Christopher Walken’s Burt that elevated the series to the next level, which ended up scoring 14 Emmy nods.

As for Walken’s casting in the show as Turturro’s romantic interest, the latter, who shares a long working history with the actor, served a key role in getting The Deer Hunter star the gig of Burt.

While the role of Burt isn’t something one would usually associate with Christopher Walken, who is notable for playing dangerous characters throughout his career, John Turturro felt he was the right man for the job.

Science fiction, drama, and psychological thriller are often genres that attract a wide range of audiences due to their mind-bending nature. However, Apple TV+’s television series, Severance, takes these elements to a whole new level. Created by Dan Erickson and directed by our favorite ‘museum night guard’ Ben Stiller, the psychological thriller stands out for its intense exploration of identity, free will, and the corporate world.

The story follows Mark Scout (portrayed by Adam Scott), an employee of Lumon Industries who undergoes a procedure called ‘severance.’ This complicated procedure divides the work and non-work memories of the employees, essentially creating two distinct selves: one who is referred to as ‘innie’ and only knows office life and the other called ‘outie.’ who apparently lives the rest of their life being oblivious to their day job.

In 2022's The Batman, John Turturro played mob boss Carmine Falcone. The Penguin, an excellent new spinoff series airing on HBO, follows Carmine's enforcer Oz and his daughter Sofia; Carmine himself featured in a flashback-heavy episode the other week, but this time he was played by Mark Strong. Turturro opted not to return for the role, and now we know why.
Part of it was that old chestnut: scheduling issues. “You can’t do everything you want to,” Turturro told Variety. That's the reason The Penguin showrunner Lauren LeFranc gave when she was asked about Turturro's absence before the show had premiered. But Turturro kept going, saying there was another reason he didn't want to come back as Carmine: “I did what I wanted to with the role...In the show, there was a lot of violence towards women, and that’s not my thing.”

It's been well over two years since we last checked in on Mark (Adam Scott), Dylan (Zach Cherry), Irving (John Turturro), and Helly (Britt Lower), four "severed" workers toiling away in the basements of Lumen Industries, doing they know not what. For reasons we have yet to fully understand, the foursome underwent a procedure that made it so they remember nothing of their outside lives while at work, and vice versa. They've basically been split into two people: their work selves and their home selves, and their work selves have gotten pretty freaking tired of devoting the whole of their existance to labor.
The first season ended with a thrilling cliffhanger where the work personalities escaped into the real world, if only briefly. What happens next? Well, in the trailer, Mark S. finds himself back in the bowels of Lumen, racing through the eerily samey hallways until he bursts back...

Welcome back to Lumon.
After nearly three years, “Severance” is back with the first trailer for its highly anticipated Season 2, debuting on Apple TV+ on Jan. 17.
In the trailer, Adam Scott’s Mark S. returns to the office after exposing his “innie” to the outside world and learning that his wife (who he thought died in a car accident) is actually alive, and working at Lumon as the wellness counselor Ms. Casey.
After frantically dashing down those stark-white hallways, Mark enters his workspace to find three unfamiliar Lumon employees — sitting in the desks formerly occupied by Helly (Britt Lower), Irving (John Turturro) and Dylan (Zach Cherry). His delightfully creepy manager Milchick (Tramell Tillman) welcomes him back to the office with balloons adorned with Mark’s face.

“Severance” Season 2 finally has teased more of what’s to come for the enslaved Lumon employees, led by Mark (Adam Scott). Along with Mark, coworkers Dylan (Zach Cherry), Helly (Britt Lower), and Irving (John Turturro) are all “learning the dire consequences of trifling with the severance barrier, leading them further down a path of woe,” according to the official synopsis.
Patricia Arquette, Tramell Tillman, Jen Tullock, Michael Chernus, Dichen Lachman, and Christopher Walken all also return, with Sarah Bock promoted to series regular.
Gwendoline Christie, Alia Shawkat, Bob Balaban, and more stars are joining the cast for Season 2, as announced in April 2022.
Arquette previously warned that audiences should be “very scared” of the Season 2 story arc, but it still remains mostly under wraps even after a first look debuted earlier this year.

It’s been a minute, but “Severance” is almost back.
On Wednesday, Apple TV+ dropped the trailer for Season 2 of the Emmy-winning drama, which returns on Friday, Jan. 17, nearly three years after it premiered in February 2022. The trailer sees Mark (Adam Scott) frantically running through Lumon’s pristine white hallways intercut with quick snippets of Season 2 scenes. He eventually arrives at his old workspace, where a new group of people, including one played by Alia Shawkat, have replaced Helly (Britt Lower), Irving (John Turturro), and Dylan (Zach Cherry).
““Welcome back, Marcus,” Seth (Tramell Tillman) says, walking in with a handful of blue balloons with Mark’s face on them. “Been a minute.”

Things are looking as nerve-wracking as ever for the Lumon employees in the first teaser for “Severance” Season 2.
The second season has been a long time coming and the teaser acknowledges that. It opens with Adam’s Scott’s Mark descending down the Lumon elevator and across the severance barrier. As he makes his way through the maze-like corridors of the office we hear a number of voiceovers.
“Everything they told you about severance is a lie.”
“We’re not happy. We’re miserable.”
“What is it we actually do here?”
Intercut into Mark running the halls are quick cuts of what’s to come in Season 2. Eventually he arrives in the green-carpeted work space he knows but is shocked to find his recognizable coworkers Helly (Britt Lower), Irving (John Turturro) and Dylan (Zach Cherry) have been replaced by a mysterious group of new people. One of them happens to be played by Alia Shawkat.

Well, if you’re a fan of corporate overreach and feelings of impending doom, then life in 2024 is probably right up your alley.
And the first trailer for Severance Season 2 is keeping the creepy vibes going with more of the stark white hallways and fluorescent lighting that first gave us the heebie-jeebies back in 2022.
Yes, it’s been a long wait for more episodes — but few series reward patience as well as this one.
(Apple TV+)
That said, if you were hoping for a ton of plot info from the latest Severance trailer … well, we’re afraid you’ll have to do a bit more waiting.
If you’re a fan of the series, then you probably recall its twister premise:
Mark Scout (Adam Scott) leads a team at Lumon Industries, a company whose employees have undergone a procedure that surgically divides their memories between their work and personal lives.

At long last, “Severance” Season 2 is set to premiere on Apple TV+ on Jan. 17, 2025, nearly three years after the first season premiered. When the sci-fi workplace thriller returns, it is sure to resolve some of the cliffhangers that left fans buzzing after the Season 1 finale.
“I think it’ll be a really interesting second season,” John Turturro, who plays company man Irving, told Variety. “We are delving into the unknown that the audience is waiting for, and then doing it incrementally.”
For director and executive producer Ben Stiller, a three-year gap between seasons has them hoping these new episodes live up to fans’ lofty expectations.

From the very start, Tolga Karaçelik’s The Shallow Tale of a Writer Who Decided to Write About a Serial Killer promises unusual relationships destined to evolve in surprising ways. We’re introduced to John Magaro as Keane, a novelist stuck in a rut both personally and professionally. His marriage to Britt Lower’s Suzie is showing major cracks, as the four years Keane’s spent failing to complete his next book have taken an understandable toll.
It’s during this low point that Steve Buscemi’s mysterious character Kollmick enters the story. Claiming to be a retired serial killer, he offers to help Keane by becoming the subject of his new book. At first only interested in furthering his writing, Keane is oblivious to Kollmick’s deeper intentions.
But things become decidedly more complicated when a drunken Keane brings Kollmick home one night, only for a misunderstanding to lead...

Innies at the ready – it’s almost time to head back to Lumon industries. Yes, after that blood pressure-increasing Season 1 finale and killer cliffhanger ending, Apple TV+’s hit sci-fi thriller series, from executive producer Ben Stiller, is returning for Season 2. After a very brief video with some Morse code signalling was shared across social media yesterday, we get our first proper look at the new episodes with a short teaser today. Have a watch below:
At only 40 seconds long, the teaser doesn’t give much away, mostly reminding us of the returning cast, and the pledge they made when entering the Lumon office to sever their work selves from their home selves. It does, however, introduce Game Of Thrones and The Sandman’s Gwendoline Christie to the fold – who appears to be some sort of Lumon colleague, though slightly messily dressed with an open top button and white headscarf,...

With multiple twists and reveals left at the conclusion of the first season, there is more than enough for all of these characters to explore. Sometimes grief can leave one feeling as if one is looking at life from a distance.
Our first glimpse of Miriam (Britt Lower) is through her apartment window. She’s doing ordinary things, perhaps carrying out her morning routine, and doesn’t seem to be aware that anyone is watching. Soon she will emerge as the central subject of Naomi Jaye’s off-centre comedy drama, and yet that sense of distance will never fully go away. When we accompany her to the library where she works, she introduces us to its staff and regulars one by one, including her father – before acknowledging that he has recently died.
Screened as part of the Fantasia International Film Festival, Darkest Miriam makes use of absurdist humour to explore the sense of unreality that such a bereavement can create. We see its heroine embark on a new relationship with an immigrant she meets in the park,...

A teaser for the second season of Severance previews more tension and regret for Adam Scott, Zach Cherry, Britt Lower, and John Turturro. Although not much happens in the half-minute or so clip, it gives a sense of how Apple TV+’s pseudo-serious satire of Americans’ inability to achieve a work-life balance could continue when the series returns on Jan. 17.
The clip begins with the four characters donning their company IDs as they enter the elevator, which severs their work life from their personal life. The voiceover replays them reading...

Good news: "Severance" is finally returning for season 2! Bad news: it won't return until next year. For reference, the first season of the hit Apple TV+ series dropped in 2022, which feels like several lifetimes ago at this point. And look, I get it — the Hollywood strikes played a part in the delay. But having your second season arrive three full years after season 1 is a little crazy. But at least that gives everyone plenty of time to go back and rewatch season 1 to refresh their memories.

When they go to work, a whole new mindset kicks in, and when they go home, they have no memory whatsoever of what they did all day. As you might imagine, this leads to complications and moral questions, especially when a new hire makes it very,...
