The film Have Sex and Die originated from James's 2009 short film of the same name, which was accepted into the 2009 Trashorama a go go film festival.

Silent Eyes marked the directorial debut for James into feature films.

James graduated Participate Film Academy in 2008.

James prefers working with familiar faces when he's directing. "It's just easier to work with people you already trust". He has worked with almost the same crew three times, on 'Silent Eyes', 'Have Sex and Die' and 'Sweet Summer Gone'. While his cast of actors may change, a core group usually make reoccurring appearances in his films.

James is also quite active within the online community as is more commonly known by his screen name and alias Jimikpop.
