Kai Quinlan

Kai Quinlan is a location scout and location manager known for bringing artistry to her craft. With a background in film, foreign language, photography, and linguistics, Kai came to the locations profession via an upbringing steeped in travel, with a genuine curiosity for the story embedded in each person and place and a keen eye for the ways in which those intersect with the stories we construct. Nominated by the LMGI in 2017 for Outstanding Locations in a Contemporary Film for her work on Manchester by the Sea, Kai has an affinity for working with directors and production designers for whom the locations are another character in the film. Bringing her sensibilities to each project with a deep commitment to the creative, her body of work includes award-winning productions, contemporary and period fiction, and recreations of true stories that authentically capture the history and spirit of places long-vanished on location. Having lived and worked in Paris, Los Angeles, and Bogotá, Kai returned full-time to the Massachusetts film industry some 15 years ago, splitting her time between its capes and hidden hills and its best-known metropolis with her partner, her dog, her camera, and the open road.
