Berthold Beitz was born on 26 September 1913 in Zemmin, Western Pomerania, Germany. He was married to Else Hochheim. He died on 30 July 2013 in Sylt, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany.
German industrialist. During World War II he saved hundreds of Jews (by some estimates as high as 800) by employing them in the oil fields he managed in Nazi-occupied Poland.
