Since 2009, Nnamdi has been invited by former President Bill Clinton to speak annually at the Clinton Global Initiative University, to engage youth around commitment to education and community service.

Asomugha distributes backpacks to the incoming freshmen each year at Narbonne High School in Los Angeles. He also outfits the football and basketball team with shoes, a mandate he wrote into an endorsement contract he signed with Nike.

Nnamdi introduced President Barack Obama at a fund-raiser in Oakland during Obama's 2012 presidential election campaign.

In June 2010, Asomugha was the first athlete presented with the Jefferson Award for Public Service, which honors volunteerism in America and is considered a Nobel Prize for community service.

Nnamdi is the national ambassador for the NFL and United Way partnership, and is the head of the United Way's Team NFL, a task force comprised of one representative from each NFL team. Its purpose is to recruit volunteer readers, mentors, and tutors to help combat the high school dropout rate.

In 2007 Nnamdi formed ACTS (Asomugha College Tour for Scholars), a college mentoring program through which he annually takes a group of high-achieving high school students from underserved communities in Los Angeles, the Bay Area, and Philadelphia on an all-expenses-paid trip to a city where they visit local colleges and universities. The Tour has visited New York; Boston Washington, D.C.; Atlanta; New Orleans; and Chicago.

Wife Kerry Washington gave birth to their son Caleb Kelechi Asomugha on October 5, 2016.

During the Philadelphia Eagles 2012 season, Nnamdi co-hosted ABC 6's post-game show, Eagles Football Frenzy.

In 2010, Asomugha was presented with the 44th annual Byron "Whizzer" White NFL Man of the Year prize, the NFL Players Association's (NFLPA) highest honor.
