Edson Ferreira (Brasília, August 15, 1972) is a Brazilian actor, filmmaker and screenwriter. With a career spanning over twenty years, he has produced several projects, which have won awards at important festivals and been shown on streaming services. He directed the feature films Areia (2025, in post-production), A Serena Onda que o Mar me Trouxe (2023) - nominated in six categories for the 2024 Grande Otelo Award and currently showing in theaters in the country - and Entreturnos (2014), co-produced by Canal Brasil, when he became the first black person to direct a feature-length fiction film in Espírito Santo. The film was screened at important festivals, such as the Havana Film Festival; the Festival de Vitória, where it received the award for Best Film by the Popular Jury; and the Festival Guarnicê, where it won awards in three categories: Best Screenplay, Best Editing and Best Actress. He has also directed short films, series and music videos. As an actor, his main works are in the feature film Areia (2025), in the series Cidinha dá Jeito (2019) and in the short films Retorno (2024) and A Mesa no Deserto (2017). He is the founder of Filmes da Ilha Produções. Member of the Association of Black Audiovisual Professionals (APAN) and the Brazilian Academy of Cinema, integrating the Selection Committee for the 2025 Oscar.
