Yosuke Hosoi is an Emmy Awards nominated film director and cinematographer based in Berlin, Germany. He was born in Japan and studied film in colleges in Los Angeles and New York.
He stands in front of camera as an actor as well. He appeared in the film Minamata starring Johny Depp, which world premiered at Berlinale.
In 2005, Yosuke moved to Los Angeles, determined to make his mark in the United States. He studied filmmaking at Santa Monica College and acting under Rick Podell at the Beverly Hills Playhouse.
In 2012, he earned BFA in Filmmaking at The City College of New York. His talent has been recognized and awarded a number of accolades, which include runner-up in New York Asian American Film Festival for his film "Club Fizz", and his thesis film "Man of the House" was accepted into festivals on all continents including Cannes Film Festival in France, Cineramabc International Film Festival in Brazil, Aoyama Film Festival in Japan, and more.
His cinematic aesthetic also leaded him to the fashion industry. He shot a fashion films for Vogue Italy with the renowned director, Luca Finotti, and it was premiered at Milano Fashion Week. He collaborated with him and to shoot a film for Jeremy Scott.
After Yosuke had worked in the U.S. for 8 years, he moved back to Japan. He has traveled more than 45 countries and directed travel programs and documentaries for NHK World, Tokyo MX TV, and WOWOW. He loves traveling and multi-culture.
He has been directing the documentary series "WHO I AM," which is IPC (International Paralympic Committee) and WOWOW's Collaboration Project since 2015. His films about top Para Athletes worldwide was nominated for International Emmy Awards in 2018, and won the official selection at Agency for Cultural Affairs, Japanese Ministry of Education 2017.
Inspired by the extraordinary stories found in the ordinary and the simplicity of life, Yosuke continues to work on his upcoming feature film projects.
