Felix Igori Ramos was born in Chicago, Il. On February 18, 1978. It was in Chicago that he began his love for filmmaking which was cemented when he saw Spike Lee's "Do the Right Thing" in 1989 at 11 years old. His father moved his family from Chicago to Huntington Park, CA. in 1991 just before the LA Riots. Filmmaking remained a dream throughout his teenage years and into his young adulthood though it was not encouraged at home due to the unlikeness that it would come to fruition. Finally, in 2004 at the age of 26 years old he Wrote, Produced, Shot, Directed and Edited his first short film entitled "Streets of Self Defeat" which he took much inspiration from the recent death of his father.
In 2007 after having met Spike Lee at USC the year prior and encouraged to "attack" his dream Felix Igori Ramos enrolled in the Los Angeles Film School at the age of 29. While at film school he Wrote, Produced and Directed several Short Films with a full crew and cast realizing the dream of an 11-year-old.
Life after film school became complicated and not as satisfying as he had thought it would be. Felix wrote several feature film scripts and attempted to put together (2) Short Film productions but the financing never came together on either one of them. Discouraged, he postponed any efforts of filmmaking and focused on his growing family and went to work in the construction industry as well as corporate America. That hiatus lasted 5 years.
In 2015 at age 37 Felix began to feel the weight of that 11-year old's dream again and he could no longer repress it. He wrote a short script about a 6-year old's obsession with basketball, employed his 6 year-old son Israel to act in it and grabbed his Android phone and began to shoot what would become a 5 minute Mobile Phone Short Film entitled "Shootin' Shots." The writing, shooting, directing and editing of this little movie reinvigorated Felix and the 11-year-old took over again. He wrote, produced and directed (4) more short films after "Shootin' Shots" then came the dealing with the elephant in the room... a Feature Film.
Terrified he tried to avoid it and convince himself, his family and friends he wasn't ready, but he could not deny that 11 year-old's dream. In the summer of 2018 Felix began Pre-production on "In the Defense Against Tyranny." In September 2018 an 85-page script was shot over 12 days on the shoe string budget of $75,000 of which was personally financed with the grace of God. Aside from a few hiccups the production went beautifully all to the credit of a skillful and hardworking crew and an immensely talented cast. As of Summer 2019 Felix Igori Ramos is in the final stages of post-production and will be submitting "In the Defense Against Tyranny" for the 2020 Film Festival Circuit. Praise God!
