Our favorite show, Dancing With the Stars, is back on the small screen and we couldn't be happier! To celebrate the premiere of Season 27, Closer Weekly put together a revealing roundup of behind-the-scenes drama, spray-tan shenanigans, and more cast secrets from the hit reality competition — scroll down to see! Costume Drama Getting your groove on in a barely-there costume secured by double-sided tape is a recipe for wardrobe malfunctions. "I cannot watch the show without thinking about [it]," DWTS costume designer Daniela Gschwendtner said. "All I look at is their boobs and booties!" Melissa Rycroft, Kelly Monaco, and Nancy Grace are just a few of the stars who've come undone on the live show. To help keep the costumes in place, "Everything is really tucked-in, stretched, then pulled," noted designer Steven Lee. Bachelor Nation came out in full force this week for their boy Grocery Store Joe on “Dancing with the Stars.” Joe (real name: Joe Amabile) had the lowest score, a 14, of Monday’s premiere, but with fan votes added in, he safely cruised into Week 2. And we do mean “safely”: The guy wasn’t even in the bottom six. With such strong support, can he go further than any male “Bachelor” alum has gone before on “Dancing?”
Joe, who was on “The Bachelorette” and “Bachelor in Paradise,” is the fifth male star of the “Bachelor” franchise to compete on “Dancing” and the first who has not been the titular “Bachelor” (yet). None of the first four was an extraordinary dancer; in fact, the common dancing trait between all of them is “stiffness.” Here’s how they finished:

Contemporary dancer Jay Jay Dixonbey wasn’t a big fan of ballroom the last time he encountered the style while at the Academy on “So You Think You Can Dance,” so the final round of cuts before the live shows could have been a nightmare for him. This round forced him and the other nine contestants to perform a duet in a style that’s not their specialty. And what did Dixonbey get? Ballroom of course.
The charismatic dancer performed a cha cha with “Sytycd” all-star Chelsie Hightower, but while judge Nigel Lythgoe thought he had a few issues with his form, it turned out to be a relatively minor quibble. Though it’s a problem he’ll need to watch out for during the live shows. Read what the judges had to say about his routine below.

On July 30 “So You Think You Can Dance” decided the rest of the top 10 contestants who will move forward to the live shows. And they must be relieved after an arduous process of training, tryouts and cuts while at the Academy. So who moved forward, and whose dreams were “shattered,” as was teased in the preview for this week’s show? Find out below in our live blog with all the night’s developments as they happen.
After the initial auditions more than 70 hopefuls were brought to the Academy. After a series of solos and group dances those competitors were gradually winnowed down to top 20, who thought they had earned their ticket to the live shows — but not yet! The judges surprised them with one more round of cuts after which only 10 dancers will get to perform live for America’s votes.

Since 2006, “Dancing with the Stars” has received at least one Emmy nomination for Best Choreography every year, resulting in three wins. It’s the co-reigning champion, for choreographer Mandy Moore, along with “So You Think You Can Dance.” As one of the few dance-centric programs on the air, it’s probably good for another nomination this year, but who of the “Dancing with the Stars: Athletes” pros would you nominate?
To be clear, both Season 25 last fall and the all-athletes edition are eligible, but since “Athletes” just ended and had a lot more newer faces, let’s focus on that. The four-week season didn’t allow for a ton of routines, but we did get some memorable numbers and some people really stepped up their game. Apolo Anton Ohno has danced off with another win: The short track speed skater is your favorite male athlete winner of “Dancing with the Stars.” With 39 percent of the vote, Ohno was way ahead of the other five contenders.
The eight-time Olympic medalist won Season 4 in 2007 with Julianne Hough, beating Joey Fatone and Kym Johnson with their electric hip-hop freestyle. Ohno later placed fifth with Karina Smirnoff in the all-star season.
Well behind in second place with 26 percent is Rashad Jennings, who won Season 24 with Emma Slater. The former New York Giants running back took down frontrunners Normani Kordei and Val Chmerkovskiy, who had to settle for third place behind runner-ups David Ross and Lindsay Arnold.

While female Olympians have struck Mirrorball glory on “Dancing with the Stars,” it’s a different story for the dudes. The most successful male athletes on the show are football players. Shocking, right? (Not.) Of the 10 athletes that have won “Dancing” in its first 25 seasons, six were men and four of those men were pigskin players. So you can probably book a football player or two for the upcoming “Dancing with the Stars: Athletes.” But which of these six champs has your vote?
The first male athlete to win “Dancing” was Dallas Cowboys great Emmitt Smith, who won Season 3 in 2006 with Cheryl Burke over Mario Lopez and Karina Smirnoff, who outscored Smith and Burke during the season. Smith and Burke reteamed for the all-star season and finished fourth.

The 98 Degrees singer had so much fun learning how to dance on the show, that he joined the pros and troupe dancers on their DWTS tour after winning the title. Dancing With the Stars kicks off its 24th season on Monday, March 20.
Ahead of the premiere, airing at 8 p.m. Et on ABC, Et's breaking down the dance competition's most memorable moments of all time.
From major missteps to behind-the-scenes drama, here's 11 of our favorite bombshells from DWTS history.
1. Lochtegate continues.
Fresh off his gold medal-winning victory for Team USA during the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio and in the middle of a major controversy due to his false report of being robbed at gunpoint following the games, the swimmer traded in his Speedo for sparkly ballroom costumes in hopes of restoring his image during the show's most recent 23rd season.
But during week one, two protesters stormed the stage while he and Cheryl Burke were performing, proving Lochtegate was far from over. Sam Sotoodeh and Barzeen Soroudi were wearing "anti-Lochte" T-shirts and did not have tickets to the ABC taping when they were booked for trespassing. Regardless...

I’ll post my full recap of tonight’s performances later on (update: here it is!); in the meantime, discuss!
Jenna Johnson and Tucker Knox have been eliminated.
Agggghhh. The former partners (pre-All-Star episodes this season) just told Cat Deeley their favorite parts of the competition were meeting each other and becoming best friends!

After Maksim Chmerkovskiy's high-profile exit from ABC's "Dancing with the Stars," we figured the dancer would be gone for good, but that may not be the case.
According to Access Hollywood, ABC president Paul Lee told reporters at the Television Critics Association summer press tour that “Maks is part of the family. He may well be back" this fall. “We love having him a part of it," Lee added.
Chmerkovskiy made his exit sound fairly final as far back as September 2012. "What else do I have to do there after 15 seasons? It makes total sense," he told the New York Post. "The audience can't expect for me to want to stick around, and the producers can't expect for me to want to stick around."
Other pros who didn't appear in Season 16 included Anna Trebunskaya, Chelsie Hightower and Louis van Amstel, although a rep for the show downplayed their absences...

And then there were…only 33?
Yep, So You Think You Can Dance‘s Season 10 Vegas Week played out Tuesday night like a Vin Diesel summer blockbuster — too fast, too furious — whittling down a crop of 159 hoofers with the ruthlessness of a combine harvester moving across a wheat field.
Call me crazy, but I’d have preferred to see Vegas Week extended over two episodes. I mean, with six separate rounds — solo, hip-hop, jazz, ballroom, groups and contemporary — there was simply too much good (and bad) dancing left on the cutting room floor. And simply too much trumped-up drama — the moping...

The "DWTS" finals are just a week away and now, the Top 4 have been revealed.
At the last results show before the finals, Ingo Rademacher was eliminated, after winding up in the bottom along with Zendaya. "I thought I was going to be done after like two weeks," a very humble Ingo said. "This has been an amazing experience ... I've really got a ballroom frame now."
Zendaya and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy found themselves in the bottom for the first time this season. Though the Disney star had been dominating the competition, their speedy quickstep on Monday was a miss with the judges. "That was kind of a mess," Carrie Ann told her, with Len and Bruno agreeing that they had a missed a few steps -- she wound up with a mere 25 for the dance. Zendaya did, however, redeem herself, ending the the night with a hip-hop routine. As...

Old favorites returned to the ballroom for Monday night's (April 15) "Dancing with the Stars," as pros Maks Chmerkovskiy, Chelsie Hightower, Tony Dovolani, Anna Trebunskaya and Tristan MacManus arrived for a special challenge.
For this week's competition, the celebs and their partners had to dance a portion of their performance next to pro couples in "Len's Side-by-Side Challenge."
Topping the leader board with a 29 out of 30 and earning a standing ovation for her Tango, was Zendaya and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy. Judge Len Goodman raved the dance was "like a lemon tart -- sharp, tangy at the top, crisp and tasty down below."
Two points behind was country star Kellie Pickler and her pro Derek Hough, who foxtrotted their way to a score of 27 out of 30.
Tied for last place were D.L. Hugley and Andy Dick, who both failed to impress the judges with their performances, and wound up with...

Despite some reports that "Bachelor" Sean Lowe and fiancee Catherine Giudici are calling off the wedding, Catherine was all smiles and cheers on "Dancing With the Stars" Monday night (April 15), when Sean got his best score yet.
Lowe and partner Peta Murgatroyd co-danced with Chelsie Hightower and Tristan MacManus on a quickstep, which is not an easy dance. But Lowe looked the best he's ever looked on the show and the judges noticed.
"I have to say, up 'ti now, you've always been a bit of a lumberjack, haven't you? ... Tonight you turned into a swan, light on your feet!" says Bruno. Len added, "Last week a statue, this week a pigeon ... pigeons sit on statues. ... that's your best dance so far" and it sent Bruno into absolute hysterics, which was pretty funny.

"Dancing with the Stars" Season 16 is full of twists and there's an interesting on in week 5 -- each couple will have an extra pro dancer join in on the dance floor. This will probably help some couples. Others may still struggle. We have all of the dances and scores as they happen in this live blog.
Although some networks (most notably NBC) have pre-empted some scheduled TV, ABC decided to air its live "DWTS." Viewers probably need a break from coverage of the Boston Marathon explosions earlier in the day. Before there was any dancing, however, Tom Bergeron and Brooke Burke-Charvet addressed the news. Barring major updates, it should all be dancing from here on.
In a cool intro, the stars and pros all entered the stage as part of a group dance. Nice variation on the stairs there.

In the wake of Monday's deadly Boston Marathon bombings, Dancing with the Stars began week five on a somber note, hoping to uplift the spirits of a country in mourning with two hours of light-hearted entertainment.
"Before we officially begin the show, we just want to take a moment. Our thoughts are with everyone in Boston tonight," began host Tom Bergeron shakily. "I have family members and many friends there. My heart is with you."

Added co-host Brooke Burke-Charvet, "Our entire cast is thinking about you…Hopefully we can still have an entertaining night of competition."
Tonight, the nine remaining couples aligned themselves with a pair of professional partners for a side-by-side dance dubbed "Len's Side-By-Side Challenge." By Monday's end, Zendaya Coleman and Valentin Chmerkovskiy skyrocketed to the top of the leaderboard after earning not just one, but two 10s for their sensuous Argentine Tango alongside Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Anna Trebunskaya.

The first "DWTS" results for Season 16 are in and no one was eliminated.
Victor Ortiz and Lindsay Arnold were the first couple in jeopardy, followed by Lisa Vanderpump and Gleb Savchenko and sadly, Andy Dick and Sharna Burgess were the final couple in the bottom.
Despite the "DWTS" results, no one was sent home because Dorothy Hamill exited the competition due to injury.
In addition to that shock, many viewers were surprised to see that D.L. Hughley and Cheryl Burke weren't in jeopardy, considering they were way low at the bottom of the leaderboard.
Ingo Rademacher and Kym Johnson were first to be safe (though they couldn't hear the announcement), followed by Sean Lowe and Peta Murgatroyd, Wynonna Judd and Tony Dovolani, Aly Raisman and Mark Ballas, D.L. Hughley and Cheryl Burke (which had them both on the floor in shock), Zendaya and Val Chmerkovskiy, Kelli Pickler and Derek Hough,...

The cast of "Dancing With The Stars" Season 16 was announced Tuesday morning, and two of the show's most familiar faces were missing from the lineup. Neither Maks Chmerkovskiy nor Chelsie Hightower were listed among the professional dancers, confirming rumblings that the two stalwart partners would not be returning to ABC's dance extravaganza this season.
