Benji Lanpher was born on January 1st, 1984 in Minnesota as Benjamin Moore Lanpher. He is named after his 3x great grandfather, Clement C. Moore who wrote 'Twas The Night Before Christmas. He has lived and worked professionally as a filmmaker currently in Los Angeles, California for 21 years.
Benji is a 1x Emmy award winner, 2x Emmy nominated cinematographer known for his work as Director of Photography for National Geographic Channel, Vice on HBO, Viceland & Vice Media, along with his comedy work with Sacha Baron Cohens' Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, Who is America,Tiger King 2, Chimp Crazy, Will Smith's 'Bucket List', & The Biggest Little Farm.
Benji has worked as a cinematographer documenting in some of the most dangerous places and situations around the world. His unique style of immersive adventure filmmaking & cinematography has led him to embed with cartels, mafias, sports ultras & gangs, along with documenting the entire 1000 miles of the Iditarod through the Arctic twice. He starred on NBC's 'The Island with Bear Grylls' as an embedded camera operator/cast member who was castaway-ed in the Pearl Islands for 28 days with no food or water, only the clothes on his back while filming the experience. Notably, he gave CPR and revived an endangered sea turtle during the show sparking international news making him the shows breakout star.
