With a new showrunner at the helm, Hilarie Burton-Morgan is looking forward to a potential return to One Tree Hill.
After she and Sophia Bush confirmed they’re working on a reboot of their hit WB/CW teen soap, the actress praised their writer and executive producer Becky Hartman Edwards as they develop the followup together.
“Our showrunner, Becky Hartman Edwards, is so good at female friendships and multi-generational shows, and that’s why we were so excited to team up with her,” Burton-Morgan told People. “So I feel very confident in what’s being presented.”
One Tree Hill creator Mark Schwahn, who served as executive producer and showrunner on the original series, has no involvement in the sequel. In 2017, a number of Oth female cast and crew members, including Bush and Burton, spoke out, accusing him of sexual harassment. The new series...

There’s only one Tree Hill, and it’s Sophia Bush and Hilarie Burton‘s onscreen home again.
As Deadline revealed today, a One Tree Hill sequel series is in development at Netflix with Bush and Burton reprising the roles of Brooke Davis and Peyton Sawyer, in addition to serving as executive producers.
The pair celebrated the return to their TV roots, posting a recent cast reunion photo with Danneel Ackles and Bevin Prince.
“What if you really can go back home? If there’s an opportunity to team with brilliant creatives and build a space where all our friends can show off their talents? Own our history? Reclaim our turf? Honor our fans? Sign us up,” the pair wrote in a joint statement posted individually to their respective Instagram accounts.
“There’s only one Tree Hill, after all,” they continued. “And you — the #OTHfam — have shown us that it’s not just an idea.

Can you believe it’s been 12 years since One Tree Hill came to an end? This series had us feel all the emotions, and it’s still one that we want to rewatch.
The series itself has become clouded with darkness as secrets about the series have come out. Sophia Bush, Hilarie Burton, and Bethany Joy Lenz have all talked about some of the treatment they faced while on the series thanks to showrunner Mark Schwahn.
Admittedly, with the darker past, it made us wonder whether a One Tree Hill revival could ever happen. Well, put it in the right hands, and it can.

After a brief fakeout for Independence Day last month, the ladies of “The View” are now officially on summer break. And yes, it’ll be a bit longer until you can return to the table with them again.
Friday marked the Season 27 finale, and it came with a bit of news from host Sunny Hostin. To wrap up the show, she announced that “after 10 years and 2,143 episodes, this is also the last episode we’ll do from this studio.” Indeed, when the show returns for Season 28, it’ll be at a brand new table in a brand new studio.
The episode also welcomed Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg to the show, where he picked apart Donald Trump’s racist comments about Vice President Kamala Harris.
But if you’re here, you’re probably wondering when exactly the Season 28 return will be. Well, worry not, we have that answer. It’ll be Tuesday,...

Former President Donald Trump said he would no longer take part in a planned debate between presidential candidates that had been slated for Sept. 10 on ABC, and instead pitched the concept of a new stand-off hosted by Fox News Channel on Sept. 4.
The ABC debate had been agreed to by both the Trump campaign and the campaign for President Joe Biden. Biden exited the 2024 presidential race in July, and Vice President Kamala Harris is now the Democratic nominee. She had committed to keep the ABC debate in place. The event was to have been moderated by David Muir and Linsey Davis.
In comments posted to Truth Social late Friday, Trump said the September 10 debate had been “terminated,” noting it had been agreed to when Biden was still the nominee. He also raised the issues of legal conflicts he had with ABC; Trump has filed a defamation suit against the network...

Former Ohio University journalism professor Justice B. Hill has proudly been a card-carrying member of the National Association of Black Journalists (Nabj) for nearly five decades. But this week, Hill echoed similar thoughts of many journalists who converged on the first day of the 2024 Nabj Convention and Career Fair in Chicago. As they heard the organization would be interviewing former President Donald Trump, Hill felt a sense of bewilderment and betrayal by his organization.
“It’s a mess,” Hill told The Hollywood Reporter. “The whole thing came together in the past couple of days. And I hate things being not transparent. There’s controversy among members — one of the co-chairs of the Chicago convention [Karen Attiah, a columnist for The Washington Post] resigned. You don’t surprise members this way. Omarosa has blasted former president Donald Trump for comments he made about Vice President Kamala Harris at the National Association of Black Journalists conference on Wednesday (July 31). During a tense question-and-answer session with the moderator, ABC News correspondent Rachel Scott, Trump suggested that Harris, who has Indian and Jamaican-born parents, only decided to “turn Black” in recent years for political gain. “I’ve known her a long time, indirectly. And she was always of Indian heritage, and she was only promoting Indian heritage,” Trump said. “I did not know she was Black until a number of years ago when she happened to turn Black, and now she wants to be known as Black.” He continued, “I respect either one, but she obviously doesn’t, because she was Indian all the way, and then all of a sudden, she made a turn and she became Black. Houston — Addressing a cavernous auditorium filled with thousands of Black women decked out in royal blue and gold — the colors of Sigma Gamma Rho, a historically Black sorority holding its biennial celebration in Houston on Wednesday — Vice President Kamala Harris acknowledged the ugly, unhinged rant that former President Donald Trump delivered hours earlier at the National Association of Black Journalists’ convention in Chicago.

Kamala Harris said that Donald Trump’s remarks before the National Association of Black Journalists on Wednesday were the “same old show,” calling him out for being divisive and disrespectful as he answered questions from three moderators.
But Harris, in remarks to an international gathering of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority in Houston, did not specifically call out Trump’s questioning of her racial identity, as he falsely claimed that only recently did she become “a Black person.”
“It was the same old show, the divisiveness and the disrespect,” Harris said of Trump’s appearance at the Nabj convention. “And let me just say: The American people deserve better…The American people deserve a leader who tells the truth, a leader who does not respond with hostility and anger when confronted with the facts. We deserve a leader who understands that our differences do not divide us. They are an essential source of our strength.

Updated: Donald Trump lit a firestorm from comments he made at a combative appearance before the National Association of Black Journalists, as he questioned whether his Democratic rival Kamala Harris was really Black.

Former President Donald Trump’s appearance before the National Association of Black Journalists generated controversy as soon as it was announced — and went off the rails just as quickly once it started.
Trump was more than an hour late to the Q&a alongside ABC News congressional correspondent Rachel Scott, Fox News anchor Harris Faulkner, and Semafor political reporter Kadia Goba. According to HuffPost, the delay was caused — at least in part — by a backstage “standoff” between Trump and Nabj organizers over the use of live fact-checking during the panel.

On Wednesday, former President Donald Trump participated in a Q&a session at the National Association of Black Journalists (Nabj) Annual Convention and Career Fair in Chicago. During the speech, he continued to make racist comments and mispronounce the name of his Democratic opponent in a very contentious panel.

Trump received a lukewarm reception with sparse applause and audible boos from attendees. The event, scheduled at noon, started nearly 15 minutes late.
Scott opened the discussion by asking Trump about his controversial and false statements, such as Obama and former GOP rival Nikki Haley not being born in the U.S., among others: “Why should Black voters trust you after you used language like that?”

Scott opened the discussion by asking Trump about his controversial and false statements, such as Obama and former GOP rival Nikki Haley not being born in the U.S., among others: “Why should Black voters trust you after you used language like that?”

Updated: The president of the National Association of Black Journalists is defending its decision to invite Donald Trump to appear at a Q&a session on Wednesday, as some members decried the move given the former president’s conduct.
Trump is scheduled to appear at a session at the association’s Chicago convention with ABC News’ Rachel Scott, Fox News’ Harris Faulkner and Semafor’s Kadia Goba as moderators.
“While Nabj does not endorse political candidates as a journalism organization, we understand the serious work of our members, and welcome the opportunity for them to ask the tough questions that will provide the truthful answers Black Americans want and need to know,” Ken Lemon, the president of Nabj, said in a statement posted on X/Twitter.
He said that Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris were invited to appear, in keeping with a tradition of inviting candidates of both major parties each presidential cycle.

The talk will be moderated by Rachel Scott, senior congressional correspondent for ABC News; Harris Faulkner, anchor of The Faulkner Focus and co-host of Outnumbered on Fox News; and Kadia Goba, politics reporter at Semafor.

Producers, anchors, correspondents and executives had spent days gaming out their plan should President Joe Biden end his 2024 campaign.
“We were planning for the news to leak out, followed by an address to the nation,” one producer says.
Instead, the president caught the media brunching.
“Enjoying a Wolf Spritzer at El Presidente restaurant here in DC,” CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer posted on Instagram at around 9:45 a.m. Pt, holding a cocktail in one hand and a menu in the other.
An hour later, of course, Biden revealed his decision to end his campaign, a leak-free announcement made in the form of a Pdf letter. Blitzer traded in the cocktail for a suit and tie and was on the air at noon Pt. CNN was televising a replay of Fareed Zakaria’s program when the news broke.

Biden Decision Surprised Most TV News Networks: How CBS, MSNBC and More Scrambled to Cover Bombshell
Many of them knew it was coming, but not exactly when.
The nation’s big TV-news outlets appear to have been caught flat-footed by President Joe Biden’s Sunday announcement that he would end his 2024 campaign for the White House, with many top anchors not visible on screen in the minutes after the president dropped his bombshell.
Broadcast networks fielded faces that were not as familiar. CBS News broke into programming at 2:02 p.m. with coverage lead by Kristine Johnson, an anchor at Wcbs, the company’s New York station, suggesting Norah O’Donnell, Margaret Brennan or Major Garrett were not immediately available (O’Donnell and Brennan joined about 45 minutes later). NBC News put up a special report 30 seconds later anchored by Hallie Jackson, who was recently named to lead weekend broadcasts of “NBC Nightly News.” ABC News broke in at 2:04 p.m. with coverage led by Rachel Scott, its senior congressional correspondent.

Scott MacFarlane, the CBS News correspondent, wasn’t quite sure what was going on Saturday night. He was covering former President Donald Trump’s rally in western Pennsylvania when he heard noises that reminded him of firecrackers. They were gunshots.
Suddenly, MacFarlane realized he was in potential danger — and a nearby rival was trying to keep him safe.
“Rachel Scott pulled me down,” says MacFarlane, referring to the ABC News veteran. She “grabbed me by the arm, told me to get beneath the bleachers.” On Sunday morning, MacFarlane tells Variety, “I gave her a big hug.”
As TV news outlets try to pivot from one of the rarest of events — an assassination attempt on a former U.S. president — to coverage of the Republican National Convention, such goodwill may be in short supply. MacFarlane, who has remained in Pennsylvania to cover some of the investigation into what has been described...

A small contingent of journalists gathered near the Canadian border earlier this morning to watch as Dixville Notch, Nh, continued its tradition of casting the first ballots on an election day.
Nikki Haley cleaned Donald Trump’s clock in this hamlet — 6 votes to none.
As the day goes on, network correspondents are fanning out across the state at precincts to talk to actual voters, after months in which the first-in-the-nation primary was judged and assessed by polls. Commentary and analysis is focusing on whether
Haley and her top surrogate, New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu, blitzed the airwaves on Monday, while Trump held a final rally in Laconia, Nh, where he predicted that Haley would be out of the race after tonight. He was interrupted by climate protesters, who have been a frequent presence at events in recent days.

Have you heard it’s cold in Des Moines? The subzero temperatures are making Monday’s caucuses in Iowa the coldest on record, a running theme of coverage throughout the day and into this evening. It’s not trivial, as the frigid weather may very well impact turnout.
As Iowa’s first votes of the 2024 presidential race come in, expect a lot of analysis, punditry and prediction, even if the results represent just a sliver of the primary electorate. The Hawkeye state’s primacy as the first-in-the-nation often obscures the peculiarities of the caucus system, unless there is some kind of glitch, which is what happened four years ago with the Democrats.
That said, networks see the caucuses as the kickoff of what is hoped a spike in viewer interest in the presidential contest, as was seen in 2020 and 2016. All of the broadcast networks are planning for ongoing coverage of...

The Iowa caucus on Monday will be like no other —- and that was apparent from the start, well before subzero weather raised doubts about turnout, stymied campaigns in the final sprint and left an army of reporters and consultants seeking the warm refuge of Des Moines hotel lobbies.
The expectation is that Donald Trump will win —- but like past caucuses, that will only tell part of the story. In the race for second place, rival Nikki Haley is looking for momentum for a potential victory next week in New Hampshire, and Ron DeSantis wants to defy pundits who have written him off.
The release of the final poll before the caucuses on Saturday night —- one sponsored by the Des Moines Register, NBC News and Mediacom —- helped set expectations for the results, with much coverage framed on whether candidates exceed or under perform. The poll showed Trump...

At Monday night’s Cfda Awards at the American Museum of Natural History, Thom Browne, the current chairman of the Council of Fashion Designers of America, made the case that fashion has a place even amid times of world crisis.
In a powerful speech that kicked off the evening, Browne noted that Cfda members “thought carefully about the appropriateness of a fashion celebration in a time like this. But tonight is about so much more than celebrating individuals,” he said. “We’re coming together as a collective to champion creativity, diversity and inclusion in our American industry.”
Thom Browne attends the 2023 Cfda Fashion Awards on Nov. 6, 2023.
That sentiment was reflected on the pre-event carpet as well, that an industry which exceeds $350 billion in global impact annually could create a moment of solidarity as they honor both established and emerging designers. “This event in particular gives a lot of exposure to young designers,...

Republican Rep. Mike Johnson was selected to be the party’s next speaker candidate on Tuesday, but the women of “The View” were more than a little put off by the party’s press conference announcing it. Host Alyssa Farah Griffin even went so far as to compare it to a moment from “The Shining.”
Really, what the ABC hosts took issue with was the behavior of Johnson and his colleagues. When ABC reporter Rachel Scott pressed Johnson on the fact that he pushed Donald Trump’s 2020 election lies, she was cut off by the congressmen, with Rep. Virginia Foxx yelling “shut up” repeatedly.
But, seeing the hoard of Republicans behind the podium, Alyssa Farah Griffin admitted she couldn’t help but think of something else, before she criticized Foxx.

Now that ABC News has cleaned house, it probably needs to fill it back up.
Executives at the Disney news division — and its corporate parent — hoped to cut recent scrutiny by parting ways with Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes, the co-anchors of early-afternoon program “GMA3” who also had a romantic relationship despite being married to other people. On Friday, the two sides broke up, so to speak, with ABC News President Kim Godwin telling staffers she hoped their departure would end a period of “distraction” at the home of “Good Morning America” and “World News Tonight.”
But Godwin and her team are likely to face a period of rebuilding.
Holmes and Robach leave ABC News as it needs to focus more closely on lining up a new tier of talent. Cecilia Vega, a Washington correspondent who frequently filled in for Robin Roberts on “GMA3,” recently left ABC News for a new role at “60 Minutes.

The journey from speculation to information can be a twisty one.
Many of the nation’s biggest TV-news outlets started their Tuesday-evening Election Night broadcast under the premise that Republicans were about to take significant share of Congress from their Democratic rivals. Within the first ten minutes of CBS News’ coverage, for example, Major Garrett and Anthony Salvanto unveiled a graphic projecting that the majority of races for seats in the U.S. House would lean red. During Fox News Channel’s coverage, opinion host Jesse Watters joined Bret Baier and Martha MacCallum to tell them he was hearing “good anecdotes” about voters in pivotal Western states.
Just before midnight, however, NBC News raised eyebrows by telling viewers it was indeed possible that the Republicans might just end up with only a few extra House seats, narrowing the party’s ability to govern. Within an hour, most major outlets were...
