Oscar-nominated writers Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach reportedly have a concept for a sequel to Barbie, the $1.4 billion box office hit. However, representatives for Warner Bros. and the filmmakers have dismissed these claims, insisting there’s no sequel in development.
The massive success of Barbie made the idea of a sequel almost unavoidable. As the film painted theaters pink and raked in over a billion dollars globally, questions about a seuqel became inevitable.
Warner Bros. and Mattel expressed enthusiasm quickly, but the decision ultimately rested on Gerwig and Baumbach, the creative duo behind the first film. They made it clear they wouldn’t move forward without a compelling story to tell.
Gerwig, who directed Barbie, emphasized the importance of finding the right story. In March 2024, while accepting a Women of the Year honor from Time, she explained, “‘”My guiding principle is: What do I deeply love? If I can find the heart of the story,...

Is a “Barbie” sequel really on the pink horizon? Gold Derby sister site The Hollywood Reporter broke the story Friday that the blockbuster film’s co-writers, Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach, are in the “early stages” of coming up with a story idea for “Barbie 2,” citing two unnamed sources. But before you could say, “Come on, Barbie, let’s go party,” official representatives downplayed the story. Gerwig and Baumbach’s rep claimed, “There is no legitimacy to this reporting,” and a Warner Bros. rep chimed in by saying, “THR’s reporting is inaccurate.”
The notion of a follow-up film would seem like a no-brainer. The 2023 movie, starring Margot Robbie as the classic Mattel doll and Ryan Gosling as her boy-toy Ken, was an unbelievable smash at the box office, earning $636 million in the U.S. and $1.4 billion worldwide. The fantasy movie took place in Barbieland as well as in the real world,...

‘Barbie’ Sequel in “Early Stages” as Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach Settle on Story Idea (Exclusive)
As Barbie painted the world pink and covered the box office in a whopping $1.4 billion of green, an urgent question emerged and was lobbed at everyone involved: What about a sequel?
It’s a query that even someone as adorably clueless as Ken could’ve come up with and one that Warner Bros. and Mattel were understandably eager to answer with a resounding, “Yes, please!” as it became the indisputable pop culture phenomenon of 2023. But the answer has always rested with the Barbie brain trust of Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach even if, at times, a franchise seemed inevitable.
The partners in life and creativity — they co-wrote the script and snagged an Oscar nomination for their collaboration — were clear in pursuing a follow-up if and only if they could find the story to support it. At least that is what director Gerwig repeatedly stated. “My North Star is, what do I deeply love?...

While we’ve long been acquainted with O’Connell and Eilish’s bass heavy alternative singles, in Disclaimer the former shows a completely different side of himself in what is Bach-inspired chamber piece-driven score for this noirish series about older sophisticated adults whose pasts come to haunt them, and the retribution they seek.

"You can't like someone right now because you could kill them." Peacock has unveiled the full official trailer for a sex comedy series called Laid, created by Nahnatchka Khan and Sally Bradford McKenna. The funny teaser debuted just last month. It's based on the Australian series of the same name (from 2011) and is streaming on Peacock in the US this December. A woman finds out her former lovers are dying in unusual ways and must go through her sex timeline to confront her complicated past in order to move forward. That sounds awkward & amusing! Romantic comedies are about to get a delightfully dark twist with Peacock’s upcoming series Laid.
Created by Nahnatchka Khan (Don’t Trust the B– in Apartment 23) and Sally Bradford McKenna (The Mick), this isn’t your average rom-com.
No, this is something much darker.
(Peacock)
The creators call it a “f**cked-up rom-com” where finding love could mean dodging death.

What if “It Follows” was a romantic comedy?
That’s something like the premise for the upcoming series “Laid,” which premieres on Peacock this holiday season. The streaming service released a trailer for the sitcom on Wednesday.
“Laid” stars Academy Award nominee Stephanie Hsu (“Everything Everywhere All at Once”) as Ruby, who realizes that her former lovers are all mysteriously dying in unusual ways. With the help of her friend Aj (Zosia Mamet), she goes back through her “sex timeline” of exes and past hookups to find out why it’s happening and stop it once and for all. No one has ever been so unlucky in love. “Laid” is described as “a f–-ed up rom-com where the answer to ‘why can’t I find love, is there something wrong with me?’ is a resounding ‘Yes. There is. When you hear the phrase "it's not you, it's me" during a breakup, it feels so ungenuine and you know the person in front of you is just Bs-ing. At least most of the time. Well in the case of Ruby in the new dark comedy series Laid on Peacock, she's telling the truth. The problem really is her.

“Every step of the way, I felt like I hit the jackpot on this,” declares two-time Oscar and 10-time Grammy-winning singer/songwriter and musician Finneas O’Connell about debuting as a TV composer for the prestige drama “Disclaimer.” For our recent webchat he adds, “like any opportunity like that, you feel this immense pressure to not be the weak link, to not mess it up. I love pressure like that. I think one of the things that drew me to composing for film and television in the first place was the feeling, like when I make a pop album, the first several albums, when I was less experienced, I had this real feeling of anxiety of ‘I don’t know how to do this, I don’t know what I’m doing,’ but it really pushed me to learn all this stuff and to create stuff in a way that I would never otherwise have created.

Here is all you need to know about the ending of Nobody Wants This(Photo Credit – YouTube)
Netflix’s recent romantic drama, Nobody Wants This, quickly became a fan favorite for its portrayal of weightless romance. The 10-episodic show featured a love story that nobody saw coming. Created and produced by Erin Foster, the movie inspired Foster’s real-life love story. Nobody Wants This stars Hot Rabbi Noah, played by Adam Brody, and sex podcaster Joanne, played by Kristen Bell, as they embark on a refreshingly unconventional relationship that faces plenty of skepticism, with many doubting it will last.
All ten episodes portray Noah and Joanne’s love as an on-and-off again romance. Nobody Wants This Season 1 ends with a passionate kiss between the two and an uncertain future. While offering reassurance that their love story continues, the finale leaves many questions unanswered. The biggest challenge to Joanne and Noah...

It’s not a very sympathetic start to the latest from Finneas, who made his fame creating world-changing music with his sister, Billie Eilish, and...
