Jones) — Christy tried, in vain, to find a home away from her mother. But, ultimately, Christy couldn't stay away for long. After stopping at several of her friends' homes,

Blake Garrett Rosenthal stars on the CBS comedy Mom as Anna Faris' sweet and overly-honest nine-year old son, Roscoe. Faris isn't the only comedy giant he's had the chance to act with: Leslie Mann, Paul Rudd, Kristin Wiig, Rainn Wilson, are among Blake's co-stars! Acting isn't Blake's only passion - he also loves playing sports. His favorite sport is basketball, but he also enjoys baseball and football. He is a huge fan of the Clippers, Packers, Dodgers, and the Yankees. With such a devout interest in sports -- and with the NFL movie Draft Day hitting theaters Friday - we asked Blake to list his Top 5 Sports Films.

CBS has the some of the most-watched sitcoms on TV, so any new sitcoms at the very least have some decent lead-ins to theoretically help them build an audience. That was certainly the case for The Crazy Ones, which held onto the lions share of The Big Bang Theory’s gargantuan audience to register 15.61 million viewers and a 4.0 rating on Wednesday.
Debuting to around half that viewership was Mom, the latest sitcom from Chuck Lorre, which would have made it a more obvious candidate to follow-up Tbbt, but is obviously lower down on CBS’s list of priorities. Instead it came after 2 Broke Girls (which deservedly saw a dip in ratings from last year) and registered a soft debut on Monday night. In truth there’s not an awful lot between them in terms of quality based on the pilots, but we’ll start off with the one that I liked a little bit more…...

Tonight, CBS unveils Mom, the latest series that Chuck Lorre has co-created for the network. Will it be as successful as some of the others? Is it worth watching?
On Mom, Christy (Anna Faris) is a single mother, waitress, and recovering alcoholic. She and her children return home to live with Christy's mother (Allison Janney), a recovering addict herself who's all too willing to help her daughter see her flaws. Others in the cast are Sadie Calvano, Blake Garrett Rosenthal, Spencer Daniels, Matt Jones, Nick Corddry, and French Stewart.
Does the show sound like a winner? Here's what some critics have to say:

When we first meet Christy (played by Scary Movie‘s Anna Faris), the protagonist of CBS’ Mom, she isn’t exactly likable. In fact, she’s sobbing uncontrollably while waiting tables, and it’s nearly impossible not to cringe at the sight.
But in Chuck Lorre’s newest sitcom, which debuted Monday night, Christy is a newly sober single mom trying to pick up the pieces of her life. And not long into the show’s pilot episode, Christy’s workplace meltdown becomes easy to understand.

Mothers and daughters make for the most complicated relationships.
Yes, superlative statements are dangerous, but we are talking mothers and daughters.
That dynamic can also be very funny, as it is in Chuck Lorre's latest CBS show, "Mom," premiering Monday, Sept. 23.
Allison Janney and Anna Faris star as Bonnie and Christy, mother and daughter.
"I buy clothing at Forever 21," Janney tells Zap2it of her character. "Bonnie is alone and very much wants to find love. I am very aware this is my first grandmother role."
She quickly clarifies that Faris' Christy was a teenage mom.
There's a fun scene in the pilot, where Christy comes home, spent and weepy from her job. She knows her daughter, Violet (Sadie Calvano), is well on her way to repeating the mistakes she and her mother made.
"I got pregnant with you when I was a teenager," Christy tells Violet. "Please don't...

Chicago – CBS must have a whole wing of their headquarters dedicated to Chuck Lorre. Why not? He paid for it. He has been such a key part of their success over the last decade that it’s hard to think of any network-creator relationship that’s been more financially notable. “Two and a Half Men,” “The Big Bang Theory,” “Mike & Molly” — all winners of acting Emmys and at least the first two stand among the most popular comedies of their era. Can he do it again with “Mom,” premiering tonight, September 23, 2013? Don’t bet against him.

For a newly sober single mom, it's probably not a great idea for your estranged, recovering alcoholic mother to find her way back into your life. Nor is it a solid plan to live in wine country, working at a Napa Valley restaurant. But that's exactly what Anna Faris' character Christy is facing in the new CBS comedy "Mom."
The new series, Faris' first regular TV gig, brings prolific producer Chuck Lorre's tally to four on the network's docket for 2013-14. ("The Big Bang Theory" and "Two and a Half Men" also return this fall, with "Mike & Molly" held for midseason.) Centered around Faris' Christy, the show follows the exploits of the single mom who's been sober for four months. Working as a waitress, her newfound sobriety is tested when Bonnie (played by the estimable Allison Janney), her estranged mom reenters her life to over-complicate Christy's already crowded life.

The Fall TV Season presentations for all the new network shows take place this week with the fourth announced today. Here's a full breakdown of which concepts have made the final list over on CBS.
The king of the networks easily remains in charge despite "Elementary" being their only fresh hit of last season's new shows. The network's line-up remains fairly stable with only a few key moves such as Thursday being expanded to include two hours of comedy programming, and "Hawaii Five-0" moving to Fridays.
Several other pilots didn't make the cut this week including the series sequel to the "Beverly Hills Cop" movies, a TV version of the comedy "Bad Teacher", the "NCIS" mobile spin-off "NCIS: Red," a procedural based on Leif G.W. Persson's literary homicide detective Everett Backstrom, the Frank Marshall-produced political thriller "The Ordained" about a priest turned lawyer trying to save his sister from assassination,...

Chicago – When you’re the #1 network on TV, it must be tempting to stay the course. However, CBS always shakes things up a bit and this year is no different. The 2013-14 schedule, announced this morning, features four new comedies (including a new comedy block in one of their most successful time slots) and one drama, along with new time slots for big hits “Person of Interest,” “Two and a Half Men,” and “Hawaii Five-0.” The five new shows feature a stunning degree of star power with lead roles taken by Robin Williams, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Margo Martindale, Tony Shalhoub, Toni Collette, Will Arnett, Tate Donovan, Allison Janney, and more. One of the first new series orders of the coming season is also one of the least surprising.
CBS is on the verge of picking up the Chuck Lorre-produced comedy "Mom" for 2013-14, Deadline reports. The show, which stars Anna Faris as a single mother working to get her life together, has been seen as pretty much a no-brainer pickup throughout pilot season.
Lorre co-wrote the pilot with "Two and a Half Men" scribes Gemma Baker and Eddie Gorodetsky. The pickup of "Mom" will give Lorre four shows on CBS next season as it joins "Men," "The Big Bang Theory" and "Mike & Molly."
"Mom" also stars Blake Garrett Rosenthal as Faris' son and Allison Janney as her mother, along with Nate Corddry, Sadie Calvano, Matt Jones, Spencer Daniels and French Stewart.
The only question now is where "Mom" will fit on the CBS schedule. Deadline says it's being considered for 8:30 p.

NBC's forthcoming series "Dracula" is setting up something of a love triangle, and it's just cast the third side.
Irish actress Victoria Smurfit ("About a Boy," "The Beach") will play Lady Jayne in the drama. Jonathan Rhys Meyers plays the title character, who's posing as a doctor in 1890s London.
Jayne will feel an instant attraction to Dracula (who's going by the name Alan Grayson), but he's hung up on Mina (Jessica DeGouw), whom he believes is the reincarnation of his late wife.
Other pilot-season news:
- CBS has cast Blake Garrett Rosenthal ("New Girl") as Anna Faris' 8-year-old son in its comedy pilot "Mom," from Chuck Lorre.
- Patty Jenkins ("Monster," "The Killing") has been tapped to direct ABC's drama pilot "Betrayal." It's about a woman who's having an affair with a defense lawyer -- who happens to be trying a case against her husband, who's a prosecutor.

Kevin Dunn has been tapped for a major recurring role on Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson’s upcoming eight-episode HBO drama series True Detective. The high-concept project is described as an elevated serial narrative with multiple perspectives and time frames. It centers on two detectives, Rust Cohle (McConaughey) and Martin Hart (Harrelson), whose lives collide and entwine during a 17-year hunt for a serial killer in Louisiana. The investigation of a bizarre murder in 1995 is framed and interlaced with testimony from the detectives in 2012, when the case is reopened. Dunn will play Rust and Martin’s boss, the fair but tough 3rd Squad Homicide Commander Maj. Ken Quesada. Dunn, repped by the Gersh Agency and Lighthouse Entertainment, already is recurring on another HBO series, comedy Veep, as the President’s Chief of Staff. On the big screen, he will next be seen in The Frozen Ground, Jobs and Diego Luna’s Chavez.

Fans of The Office will either be devastated or stricken with great joy when you read this report. We’ve known that Rainn Wilson was starring in a potential new series tentatively titled The Farm featuring his peculiar Dwight Schrute character from The Office. The spin-off would follow his struggles running a bed and breakfast with his cooky family on his famous beet farm.
The cast also included Majandra Delfino, Tom Bower, Thomas Middleditch, Matt Jones, Blake Garrett, and Michael Schur (Dwight’s cousin Mose from The Office), but apparently this line-up of talent – which also included The Office showrunner Paul Lieberstein (Toby) as executive producer – wasn’t good enough for NBC.

TThe Dwight-centered spinoff of "The Office" won't be coming to your television next season -- though you may get a taste of it later this season.
"The Farm" would have starred Rainn Wilson as Dwight in a show about him and several family members operating their beet farm and a bed and breakfast. Wilson tweeted Monday afternoon (Oct. 29) that NBC opted not to go forward with it: "NBC has passed on moving forward with 'The Farm' TV show. Had a blast making the pilot - onwards & upwards!"
As it stands, audiences will probably still see what might have been. "The Farm" was intended to air as a planted spinoff in an episode of "The Office" -- meaning it would be part of a regular episode.
"The Farm" also starred Majandra Delfino ("Roswell"), Blake Garrett, Thomas Middleditch, Tom Bower and Matt Jones. Former "Office" showrunner Paul Lieberstein wrote the pilot with Wilson.

With the network's "The Office" in the middle of its ninth and final season, NBC had plans for a spinoff following Rainn Wilson's Dwight Schrute. Although a pilot was produced, Wilson has just revealed through his Twitter feed that the show will not go to series. "NBC has passed on moving forward with The Farm TV show," Wilson writes. "Had a blast making the pilot - onwards & upwards!" Matt Jones, Majandra Delfino, Thomas Middleditch and Blake Garrett were among those intended to become regular cast members on "The Farm" and there were plans to introduce several of them during an upcoming episode of "The Office." Whether or not that will still be the case has not been confirmed.

Casting for Rainn Wilson’s farm/bed-and-breakfast centered spinoff of The Office – appropriately called The Farm – is still under way, and news has reached us here at Boomtron of the latest actor to join the Schrute family in their new venture. You may recognize his signature raspy voice from any number of guest starring roles from Community to How I Met Your Mother, but Matt Jones’ claim to fame lies in the recurring role of drug addict/dealer, Badger on AMC’s Breaking Bad. But his days as supporting cast may be over if The Farm makes it past its backdoor pilot in Season 9 of The Office.
News of Jones casting came from The Hollywood Reporter, and I think this might be the smartest decision that has been made so far regarding who will be starring alongside Rainn Wilson in this spinoff. Jones has a likeability about him that could...

The Farm is getting full.
Matt Jones (Breaking Bad) has been cast on The Office‘s potential spin-off as Dwight’s mysterious cousin Zeke, per The Hollywood Reporter.
The character — along with the previously cast Thomas Middleditch (The Campaign), Majandra Delfino (Roswell) and Blake Garrett (Bridesmaids), who will play Dwight’s brother, sister and nephew, respectively — will be introduced in an episode of the departing NBC comedy this fall. Should the network move forward with the Schrute-centric spinoff, all four would be series regulars.

The always lovable Schrute family continues to grow, as NBC has cast former Roswell star Majandra Delfino in The Office spin-off (tentatively titled The Farm) as Dwight’s (Rainn Wilson) younger “pseudo-intellectual lefty” sister, Frannie. Not too much is known about Delfino’s new role, expect that Frannie left the Schrute family beet farm/bed & breakfast for a faster-paced life in Boston. After getting divorced from her husband, Frannie ends up back on the same farm she fled, only this time with son in tow.
Joining Delfino on the old Schrute family beet farm is young actor Blake Garrett (New Girl, Bridesmaids), who will play Frannie’s son and Dwight’s nerdy and slightly weird 9-year-old nephew, Cameron Whitman. He is described as a “cosmopolitan lad” who still feels the pull of his Schrute heritage, especially when he’s receiving much-needed fatherly ...

Whether you want it or not, The Farm – that planned spinoff of The Office – has started piecing together its cast, starting with the roles of Dwight Schrute’s sister and nephew. Is it unsettling to realize just how close we are to seeing this thing hit the air? Yes, but we can get through this together. There’s still a chance the spinoff won’t make it past the backdoor pilot. Unfortunately, we will still have to sit through that pilot, which will serve as a regular episode of The Office. It will air sometime this fall as part of Season 9 and will introduce the new characters of The Farm.

Ready to meet a couple employees at Schrute Farms?
The Office has announced a pair of casting notes, both of which involve relatives of Dwight's and both of whom will star in a spinoff if NBC chooses to go ahead with one.
Majandra Delfino (Roswell, State of Georgia) has landed the role of Dwight's sister, Fannie, while Blake Garrett (New Girl, Bridesmaids) will play his nephew, Cameron.
Both will come on board during a special episode of The Office that will introduce viewers to life at the famous family farm.
Dwight and these loved ones (and a still-cast brother named Jeb) will inherit a bed-and-breakfast in the proposed series, with Dwight having to convince his sister and nephew - who have moved to Boston - to join him in the venture.
What do you think? Would you watch a Dwight Schrute spinoff?...
