Jason Segel and long-time girlfriend Alexis Mixter split in 2021 after an eight-year relationship. Mixter is a photographer and works behind the scenes in show business, with experience in the art department of film and TV projects. Mixter is now married to comedian Joshua Dean, and they had a heartfelt wedding in the Pacific Northwest.
In 2021, actor Jason Segel split with his long-time girlfriend Alexis Mixter, and she has continued to pursue a successful career in the arts. Popular film and TV veteran Jason Segel first rose to prominence in the early 2000s in projects with producer Judd Apatow, and the cult classic series Freaks and Geeks ostensibly introduced the budding actor to the world. Known for his affable everyman characters, Segel became a household name as Marshall in the sitcom How I Met Your Mother, and it wasn't long before he was a bona fide movie star in Forgetting Sarah Marshall and 2011's The Muppets.

The Real L Word aired on Showtime from 2010 to 2012. It was one of the first reality television series to follow the lives of a group of lesbian and bisexual women who lived in Los Angeles. The original cast starred me, Jill Goldstein who was my fiancé at the time, Tracy Ryerson, Rose Garcia, Whitney Mixter and Mikey Koffman.
With a successful career behind the lens in entertainment, I’m often asked why Jill and I chose to put our lives on camera. The answer is simple: Seeing relatable stories and experiences on television can be validating and empowering.
As our narrative in the series was about wedding planning (which was legally unrecognized and unlawful in 2010 in California), we told our story to be seen and heard, to be visible outside of our community, to normalize our love for one another as no different than a traditional union between a man and a woman.

On Thursday evening, The Young Turks partnered with The Rubin Report and YouTube to host a panel and party to celebrate their #ProudToLove campaign and the supreme court decisions on Doma and Prop 8. After introducing his panel of Jonny McGovern, Hannah Hart (My Drunk Kitchen, Hello Harto!), Whitney Mixter (The Real L Word), Alec Mapa (Showville), and Bree Essrig (BREEessrig), host Dave Rubin began the night by asking the panel how they were feeling about the striking down of Doma. Alec Mapa immediately brought up a memory of a time in which he had to go through customs with his husband and son, but the agent informed him he and his family were not allowed to pass through as a single unit. For him Doma means, “We’ll be able to go through customs like everybody else. And that seems like kind of a trivial thing, but it did matter.

Project Runway, now in its tenth season with no signs of going out of style anytime soon, has had so many gay men on it, they could fill a Pride float draped in Italian wool, cut on the bias. Lesbian designers, not so much.
Photo credit:: Lifetime Television
This year, the show features out lesbian designer, Alicia Hardesty. The last (known) lesbian contestant was Zulema Griffin in Season 2, and she was famously made to appear straight in the edit room. Whether or not Alicia will get the same treatment, eight years later, remains to be seen, but considering Alicia cites Huckleberry Finn as a style inspiration, I'd love to see Project Runway try and de-gay that.
We talked to Alicia recently about her experiences on the show, her plans to launch her own collection called Original Tomboy, and how much she loves being mistaken for Whitney Mixter.

Ask any queer girl: When it comes to gaydar, haircuts count.
Surely not every pixie-haired chick out there is hiding steamy Sapphic fantasies inside her carefully pomaded head, and I've met plenty of lesbians with hair that looks straight in more ways than just texture, but any lady with a shaved side, faux-hawk or asymmetrical 'do gets at least a second glance from me.
When I came out in college, I was lucky enough to do so in the company of three highly experienced lesbian roommates, all of whom advised that I reconsider the long, shapeless locks I'd carried over from my high-school days. One of the gang, as odds would have it, owned all six seasons of The L Word on DVD -- 24 discs of the kind of soft-core, girl-on-girl action that only Showtime could get away with -- and we scoured each episode for hair inspiration.

"The Real L Word" is coming back with a lot less of old faces and a lot more of new ones. Whitney Mixter from season 1 is the only original cast that makes the cut in the revamped season 2, joined by Romi who was supporting in the first season, an online magazine entrepreneur, a business executive, a couple trying for baby and an Lgbt activist.
Whitney returns with a new agenda. The official site said, "An undeniable woman magnet, her life is a complicated web of friends and exes, and exes who are friends. By far the biggest complication is Sara, the temptation Whitney just can't seem to resist, despite her friends' warnings. But beyond the girl drama, Whitney is making 2011 her year to re-focus on her creative passions and give back to the community."

Whitney Mixter has been the love-'em-and-leave-'em cast member of 'The Real L Word' (Sun., 10Pm Et on Sho). But on the first-season finale, she discovers a taste of her own medicine isn't so delectable.
At the annual Dinah Shore gathering in Palm Springs, Whitney thinks she and Sara are "starting to expand our relationship ... We're definitely, like, learning about each other and potentially developing trust."
By day two, the player says, "At this point, I'm not gonna lie, I'm kind of like only eyes-only on Sara."
Next thing you know, she discovers Sara making out with Romi in the pool. Back in the hotel room, Whitney says, "I like to pride myself on not needing anybody." But the tears streaming down her face tell a different story.

On 'The Real L Word' (Sun., 10Pm Et on Sho), L.A. Fashion Week producer Mikey Koffman popped the question on the runway at the Dolce Vita Fashion Show.
She called up Raquel Castaneda, her makeup-artist girlfriend, from backstage. Getting down on one knee, she asked, "Will you marry me? Please say yes. It'd be really embarrassing if you say no right now," she said, as the audience (including fellow cast mate Whitney Mixter) clapped and cheered her on.
It was a big "yes." Raquel later said, "That is so amazing to me. Mikey doesn't have the easiest time showing how she feels, so saying something that loud really got my attention, and I just can't believe she made a statement like that."
Mikey explained it this way: "I wanted to speak her language. I felt like she likes big gestures, and I was trying to give her that.
