Debutant director Shubham Yogi’s feature film ‘Kacchey Limbu’ premiered to a rousing welcome at the ongoing Toronto International Festival here. Centred on gali (street) cricket in India, ‘Kacchey Limbu’ is the story of India’s aspirational youth displaying courage to break into new professions against their parent’s wishes. It is about sibling rivalry and breaking gender barriers. And it is about Indian ‘jugaad bazi’ (makeshift arrangements).
All this happens amid the raucous mohalla (colony) life in India.
Produced by Jyoti Deshpande, Pranjal Khandhdiya and Neha Anand, the film’s story plays out in the so-called underarm premier league matches staged in the parks of Mumbai.
Defying their parents’s expectations, the siblings Aditi (played by Radhika Madan) and Akash (played by Rajat Barmecha) realise that their childhood dreams of playing top-level cricket by joining two of the many housing cricket teams – Maharajas, Tenners, Badgers, etc. – in the so-called Underarm Premier League.

Actress Achint Kaur recalls how, back in the 90s when she started out as an actress, people would discourage youngsters from joining the glamour industry. "When I entered the entertainment industry, I was already married and had a kid who was two. Since I was offered a role, and I never tried to get into the business of entertainment, things were not planned. I told my family, and they were under the impression that everything was wrong with the glamour industry, so there was no encouragement. Nobody looked at it as just another profession. Even the idea of me, getting into the glamour and entertainment industry was 'wrong'," says Achint, who returns in the web series "Hey Prabhu! 2".
"I was asked why was I doing this because my life was set, I was married, had a child, what else did I need? Honestly, in my initial days I was actually very under-confident because of that,...

Mumbai, March 18 (Ians) Actor Rajat Barmecha returns as the protagonist in the upcoming second season of the web series "Hey Prabhu". He says adulting is a tough process but it helps youngsters build their personality.
Rajat, who shot to fame playing the lead role in Vikramaditya Motwane's 2010 film "Udaan", plays the titular Tarun Prabhu in "Hey Prabhu". Tarun makes mistakes but his friends and parents understand him.
"Every generation presents its own challenges and, clearly, millennials are no different. We've all heard our parents say, humne toh kabhi aise gul nahi khilaaye (we never did such things) or you come across peers who brag about their escapades with their partners, and all you do is listen. Adulting is tough -- (there are) problems with work, family, love, and roommates. It is a phase we all go through at some point in life. And I think it is okay to mess up.

The rather unhappy producer Siddharth Jain said, "Yes it was supposed to Rajat with Vivaan. But Vivaan suddenly opted out because his dates were clashing with another film Mastaan.
