The hosts of this year’s ceremony were Taika Waititi and Rita Ora.

The biggest winner of the evening was Taylor Swift, who took home the best video and best longform video award for her 10-minute version of “All Too Well (Taylor’s Version),” as well as best artist and best pop awards.

On Wednesday, the nominees for the 2022 MTV Europe Music Awards were revealed, and the “As It Was” singer is leading the way with seven nods.

Styles is nominated for Best Artist, Best Song, Best Video and more.

Following close behind Styles is Taylor Swift, who earned six nods, including for Best Artist, Best Pop and Best Longform Video, a new category, for her “All Too Well: The Short Film”.

Behind the top two nominees are Nicki Minaj and Rosalía, who each received five nominations.

The awards also feature 17 first-time nominees, including Chencho Corleone, Gayle and Stephen Sanchez, Dove Cameron, Doechii, Baby Keem, Kim Petras, Mae Muller, Saucy Santana, Shenseea, Summer Walker and Wet Leg.

Fan voting is open now, until Nov. 9.

This year’s MTV VMAs took place at New Jersey’s Prudential Center on Sunday night (28 August).

Below is a list of winners from the action-packed ceremony, including brand new award for Best Metaverse Performance.

The first awards of the night were announced on the event’s pre-show red carpet, with Italian glam rock band MaÌ.neskin taking the prize for Best Alternative for “I Wanna Be Your Slave” and, with over 320 million fan votes cast, Blackpink won Best Metaverse Performance.

Album of the Year was given to Harry Styles for Harry’s House, while Red Hot Chili Peppers received the Global Icon Award and Nicki Minaj the Video Vanguard Award.

Lizzo took home the Video for Good award at the 2022 MTV Video Music Awards, and used her time on stage to share a message with young voters in the audience and respond to comedian Aries Spears’ fat-shaming comments that recently went viral.

The singer-songwriter earned the prize for the music video for her single “About Damn Time,” besting fellow nominees Kendrick Lamar, Latto, Rina Sawayama and Stromae.

Presented Bebe Rexha introduced the category by saying that music “has always been the soundtrack to change…. The nominees push us to be better to ourselves and nicer to each other.”

Mark your calendars: Coachella is returning to Indio, California, next year. On Tuesday, the music festival announced that its 2023 iteration will take place over the weekends of April 15 to 17 and April 21 to 23 next year.
