Matheus Parizi (1983) is a Brazilian filmmaker with previous experience as a theatre director and playwright. His films have been screened and awarded in festivals including Venice, Toulouse, Havana, Tiradentes, Aspen, Melbourne, Hong Kong, and institutions such as the Museum of Fine Arts - Boston, Brown University, Yale University, Instituto Moreira Salles and the Uruguayan Cinematheque. A Torino Film Lab alumni, he is a recipient of the Brazilian Ministry of Culture's 2013 Cultural Exchange and Diffusion Program, the 2015 Prêmio Estímulo Short-film Production Fund and the 2016 Núcleos Criativos Feature-length Development Fund. His latest short-film First Act will premiere at the 2019 IFFR's Ammodo Tiger Short Competition.
Writer/director of seasons 1, 2 and 3 of No Divã do Dr. Kurtzman (Canal Brasil). Director of web-series Observatório for culture and contemporary arts institute Itaú Cultural. Special student at São Paulo's University Master Degree in Cinema Studies, with an M.A. dissertation project investigating the relationship between theater and cinema in the oeuvre of Leon Hirszman.
