Exclusive: Fox and Warner Bros. Television have brought in veteran TV writer-producer Daniel Cerone as executive producer and showrunner of The Cleaning Lady for the drama’s upcoming fourth season. He succeeds developer Miranda Kwok and Jeannine Renshaw who served as co-showrunners and executive producers on Season 3.

The Cleaning Lady, starring Élodie Yung, received a last-minute Season 4 renewal in May. The pickup came with a leadership change as Kwok and Renshaw departed amid a creative direction change for the series following the death of male lead Adan Canto and softening ratings post-strike. Kwok, who developed The Cleaning Lady based on an Argentine format, will serve as executive consultant on Season 4 while developing new projects for Wbtv.

The news comes ahead of the two-hour Season 3 finale, which will air May 21 at 8 p.m. Et.

The crime drama series stars Élodie Yung as Thony De La Rosa, a Cambodian-Filipino former surgeon who works as a cleaning service worker in Las Vegas. After witnessing a murder, Thony is offered a job both as a cleaner and a doctor within a criminal organization.

The fate of Adan Canto’s character on The Cleaning Lady was revealed in tonight’s episode on Fox.

Canto died earlier this year following a private battle with appendiceal cancer. The actor starred in the Fox series, playing Arman Morales, and could not film any scenes for the current third season due to his health, which started filming in December 2023.

Arman had not appeared and his character had been missing following a shootout during the opening moments of Season 3. Thiny and Nadia had been trying to locate Arman, and his captors had planned to return him after making a deal.

Nadia and Dante met the captors at the desert location where Arman was to be dropped off. However, Thony received information that Dante had known about Arman’s whereabouts all along and was involved in the kidnapping.

Cambodian-born surgeon turned mob cleaner Thony De La Rosa (Élodie Yung) has rarely met anyone she couldn’t outsmart. But this season, Thony may have met her match in Ramona Sanchez. Posing as a philanthropist, Ramona is really the “dangerous and powerful head of the Vegas-based Sin Cara cartel,” says del Castillo. Thony contacted Ramona, the aunt of the missing Arman (the late Adan Canto), Thony’s protector and close friend, when he disappeared. Now, “Ramona wants to keep her around,” the Mexican American actress notes. “She has skills that are useful to Ramona, while Ramona has connections that can help reunite Thony’s family”—like Thony’s deported Filipina sister-in-law, Fiona (Martha Millan). “There’s an underlying level of respect between the women,” del Castillo adds. But that could change this week as Thony disobeys Ramona when aiding a woman in need of medical assistance. Ultimately, Ramona seeks revenge with her nephew’s abductors.
