Amber Fares is an award-winning documentary director and cinematographer known for films such as Coexistence, My Ass! (Special Jury Award, Sundance 2025), We Are Ayenda (Grand Prix, Cannes Lion 2024), Reckoning with Laughter (Al Jazeera Witness, 2021), Convergence: Courage Under Crisis (Netflix, 2021), America Inside Out with Katie Couric(National Geographic, 2018), and Speed Sisters (Hot Docs, 2015). As a cinematographer, she has worked on Life After (2025), Boycott (2021), and the Peabody Award-winning The Judge(2017), which she also co-produced and filmed. A Sundance Momentum Fellow and a Sundance Editing and Story Lab Fellow, Amber is a Canadian of Lebanese origin currently based in New York.

Her debut documentary Speed Sisters (Netflix/Hot Docs 2015,) won numerous awards and was described by the New York Times as "Subtly rebellious and defiantly optimistic". Amber was the Cinematographer and Co-producer on 2019 Peabody winner, The Judge (PBS 2017). Her recent projects include America Inside Out with Katie Couric (National Geographic 2018), Transparent (Amazon 2017) and She Could Be Next (PBS 2020). Amber's work has been featured on Netflix, CNN, Al Jazeera, Amazon, PBS and National Geographic. Amber was a 2014 Sundance Catalyst fellow, 2014 Sundance Institute Edit and Story Lab Fellow and a 2019 Sundance Momentum Fellow.
