Cameron Diaz is close to a deal for Lionsgate's romantic comedy What to Expect When You're Expecting. The film is directed by Kirk Jones and is an adaptation of Heidi Murkoff's bestselling how-to manual. Heather Hach and Shauna Cross are writing the script about five couples who are expecting a baby. The project is being produced by Phoenix Pictures' Mike Medavoy, Arnie Messer and David Thwaites, and is being co-produced by Doug McKay. Murkoff and husband Erik Murkoff are exec producers with Alan Nevins. The plan is to turn the manual (hat has sold more than 16 million copies) and turn it into a film like Love Actually.
Diaz just began filming Gambit opposite Colin Firth. The caper comedy remake is directed by Michael Hoffman and scripted by Joel and Ethan Coen. What To Expect When You're Expecting is slated to begin in July.
