Gerard Lough is a film director from Ireland. He got his start in the industry in 2003 when he directed a music video while doing an internship at an American advertising agency. Since then, he has directed twelve music videos as well as several critically acclaimed short films such as the Stephen King adaption 'The Boogeyman' (2010) which received extensive press coverage and was screened at film festivals all over the world.
His first feature film as director was 'Night People' (2015), a stylish and original "hyperlink" horror film which was released in cinemas in November 2015. It was met with strong reviews upon release and cemented his signature style of striking visuals and sinister atmosphere. His second feature was the ambitious neo-noir 'Spears' (2022). Shot in four different countries, the complex story focused on three desperate men who team up to take revenge on a master criminal.
He has just completed a new short film 'Waiting for Magic Hour' (2024) which marks a departure for him in terms of style and subject matter. It tells the light hearted story of a photographer and her driver as they form an unlikely friendship on a road trip. It also marks Lough's first time shooting on anamorphic lens on a 4K cinema camera.
