Josiah Jack "layman's poet" Kalian, was born in Pasadena, California and raised in Texas and Kentuckiana,
the 2nd of 11 homeschooled siblings.
When most kids would be at school, 9 yr old Kalian was building houses full time to help his family keep food on the table. At 17 he snuck into a movie theater and felt a destiny.
After working in search & rescue / special response diving he served in the US Army as an air assault combat medic deploying to Iraq and Afghanistan, where he was battlefield promoted to staff sergeant at four years with a bronze star.
His first performance was in a production of White Christmas at the Amelia Earhart Playhouse in Wiesbaden, Germany.
He'll tell you his greatest passion is writing and promoting poetry - encouraging everyone to "write their verse".
He is of Armenian, Celtic and Jewish descent.
