About his role in the Netflix project
Marco Polo (2014): There was actually a lot of confusion about who was playing which role at first. Originally another actor was going to play my character, so when I finally came in to try my costume, the costume designer looked at me and was like, the other actor we thought was playing this role is huge, so we're going to have to make you look bigger. They designed a costume that was thin around the waist but had broad shoulders with huge furs, which was great because while everyone else was training hard at the gym, I could slack off and sleep in because my costume was doing all the work for me. [laughs] I look big. And I got facial hair that I could never grow in a million years.
