Writer, director and producer Genc Permeti began his career as a visual artist in the Albanian capital of Tirana. Permeti has had numerous art shows in Albania, Denmark, Greece, the Netherlands among others. Permeti was screenwriter and producer on director Goran Paskaljevic's Honeymoons, the first Albanian-Serbian co-production. Besides writing a number of Albanian productions, Genc Permeti produced and co-produced other international successes such as the documentary La Nave Dolce, winner of the Critics Award in the Venice Film Festival (2012), Mark Cousins essay doc Here Be Dragons (2014), Antonio Morabito's Netflix production Forgive Us Our Debts (2018) and the recent Light Falls (2023) directed by the Oscar-nominated cinematographer Phedon Papamichael. From 2005 to 2014, Genc Permeti was the main programmer of the Tirana International Film Festival.
