Federer: Twelve Final Days offers an emotional look at Roger Federer's retirement, focusing on his iconic career and inner circle. The documentary highlights Federer's 20 Grand Slam titles and record-breaking Wimbledon wins, including his last match at the Laver Cup. Federer's retirement was due to a knee injury that required surgery, ending his hopes of returning for the 2022 Wimbledon championship.
Amazon Prime Video's new sports documentary, Federer: Twelve Final Days, delves into the Wimbledon champions final days before he officially retired. The documentary uses behind-the-scenes footage to portray how one of the greatest tennis players and his inner circle and fans handled his retirement news. According to some reviews of Federer: Twelve Final Days, the Asif Kapadia-directed documentary is more of a sentimental tribute to the legendary tennis player than it is about answering hard-hitting questions, yet it does undeniably explore some of the most impressive aspects of his career.

The ceremony and broadcast of the 48th edition of the French Cesar’s awards were interrupted briefly on Friday night after a climate change activist suddenly appeared on stage.
The woman wearing a T-shirt bearing the slogan “We have 761 days left” came into the shot on stage just as French actors Ahmed Sylla and Léa Drucker were about to present the prize for Best Male Newcomer.
The broadcast cut to a trailer for a matter of minutes before returning to the live show once the woman had been removed and then continued as if nothing had happened.
A French climate change group called Dernière Rénovation later claimed responsibility for the action on the social networks.

Cincinnati, Aug 19 (Ians) Two of the top-10 seeds at the Western & Southern Open collided on Thursday as Felix Auger-Aliassime defeated Jannik Sinner 2-6, 7-6 (7-1), 6-1.
It was Sinner who looked sharpest early, taking the first three games of the opening set before securing a double break, but while Auger-Aliassime struggled to deal with the Italian’s serve early on, it was not the case as the match wore on, Dpa reports.
Sinner won 80 per cent (12-of-15) of his first serve points in the first set, but that number dwindled down to 62 per cent in the second and 50 per cent in the third as Auger-Aliassime grew into the contest and stormed home late.
Auger-Aliassime will face the in-form Borna Coric in the quarter-finals after the Croatian backed up his shock upset win against Rafael Nadal by defeating 15th seed Roberto Bautista Agut 6-2, 6-3.

Cincinnati, Aug 17 (Ians) Russian player Daniil Medvedev survived a second-set slugfest to secure a 6-4, 7-5 victory against Botic van de Zandschulp of the Netherlands and advance to the third round at the Western & Southern Open in Cincinnati.
“The second set was not that clean,” conceded Medvedev, who surrendered a break advantage and saved a set point on serve in the set. “The first set was great. Everything was working. I had three games where I had break points but managed to break in the first game, which was enough,” the Russian was quoted as saying by atptour.com.
“The second set was going not that bad. He (van de Zandschulp) was not serving especially well, doing a lot of double faults. So I tried to keep pressure, use my chances. Actually on return, I feel like I did a good job. Two breaks on these fast courts is enough...

The 2019 U.S. Open coverage on ESPN has grown in the ratings compared with last year on each of its first four days, the network said Friday. And that’s before Saturday’s primetime showdown in the year’s final tennis Grand Slam tournament featuring 15-year-old U.S. phenom Coco Gauff against defending champ (and 21-year-old) Naomi Osaka of Japan.
ESPN reported that viewership through Thursday’s two rounds, dominated by storylines in the women’s draw, has averaged 691,000, up 26% over last year, with each window outperforming the comparative one in 2018. That peaked last night with ESPN2’s coverage of Gauff’s three-set victory over Timea Babos to reach the third round of the New York-set tournament.
Viewership for the match peaked at 2.16 million late in the match, which Gauff pulled out in front of 14,000 at the main Louis Armstrong Stadium. She became the youngest female to advance this far...

Prince William and Prince Harry appeared to have a blast at the Jerudong Park Trophy Final at the Cirencester Park Polo Club in England on Saturday. Prince William and Kate Middleton don't show Pda very often, but when they do, it's superadorable. The royal couple shared a tender moment at Wimbledon on Sunday when they watched Roger Federer take on Marin Cilic from the stands. Aside from sharing a few laughs as Kate tried to manage her hair in the wind, she also sweetly removed a speck from her husband's cheek. Even though there isn't any formal rule that discourages them from showing Pda, the two usually remain professional with their outings as they serve as "working representatives of the British Monarchy." Last Monday, Marin Cilic became just the third tennis player outside what has become known as the sport’s ‘Big Four’ – Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray – to win a grand slam event since 2005.
A year ago, Cilic was handed a nine-month, back-dated ban for “incautious use of glucose” having failed a urine test in Munich a few months earlier. The suspension was due to conclude in February 2014, but Cilic, who blamed the test result on glucose tablets purchased from a pharmacy by one of his team, appealed to the Court of Arbitration for Sport. Cas believed his punishment was overly severe, reducing the length of the ban to four months and allowing the player to fully participate in the 2014 season.

Reigning Wimbledon champion Andy Murray fell to Grigor Dimitrov in the quarterfinal of the tennis tournament on Wednesday.
Andy Morray Loses To Grigor Dimitrov
Bulgaria’s Dimitrov beat Scotland’s Murray in a three set match, 6-1, 7-6 (4), 6-2. Though Dimitrov was the underdog coming into the match, he’d previously beaten Murray in Mexico. He also took the top spot at London’s pre-Wimbledon grass-court event, the Aegon Championships.
Coming into the quarterfinals, Murray, 27, hadn’t lost a set at the tournament. On the Wimbledon courts, he’d won his last 17 matches, including those played during the 2012 Summer Olympics. He was a third seed in the tournament, while Dimitrov is the 11th seed.
Murray doesn’t begrudge Dimitrov the win, admitting that the 23-year-old rising star played the better game, and that he failed to meet, let alone exceed, his efforts.

All systems are go for Wimbledon this upcoming week and what a tournament we are in store for.
It’s very difficult to fathom anything other than a victory for one of “The Big Four”. This will be the first Major that all four of the top players will all be competing to take the title since record breaking Spaniard Rafael Nadal returned to fitness earlier this year.
With the exception of Nadal, all four have been in patchy form. Djokovic hasn’t been himself; Federer is past his prime and not winning tournaments as easily as he once did. While Murray comes in to this tournament feeling fresh, it will be a concern for him he hasn’t played in a 5 setter since the Australian Open this year, having had to withdraw from the French Open.

Andy Murray has continued his impressive march through the Wimbledon draw with a competent 7-5 6-2 6-3 victory over Croatian Marin Cilic.
The game, which began at 15.45 on Monday finally came to a close on Tuesday at 14.00 thanks to a lengthy rain delay which saw play suspended numerous times. Though it wasn’t quite a ‘game of two halves’, there were prevalent worries that the disruption may hinder Murray’s progress, but they were quickly dispelled as Murray picked up where he left off after the rain delay, barely allowing Cilic a second-glance as he demolished the 16th seed in a storming fashion.
The first set started on even ground; both players went about breaking each other’s serve before a highly entertaining set of tennis which saw some long-winded rallies and questionable line calls before Murray won the break of serve at 6-5, and served it out 7-5 to take the first set.

Andy Murray is through to the second week of Wimbledon once again as he left it late to overcome Cypriot Marcos Baghdatis 7-5 3-6 7-5 6-1 and book his place in the fourth round.
The tennis match, which broke the record of being the latest finish to a Wimbledon game, began at 19.15 and though it was made clear no play would go on after 23.00, the game finally came to a thrilling climax at 23.02.
With the sun setting on another glorious day of tennis, Murray’s task seemed slightly less daunting as he broke in the eleventh game of the first set before serving out to clinch the set 7-5.
