Johnny Lin with his multi-national background, was perfectly placed for success in both the Asian and North American film worlds. Through his own distribution entity, Lin has acquired rights to such critically acclaimed and successful films as THE FIGHTER, THE KING'S SPEECH, DEAR JOHN, PARANORMAL ACTIVITY, EXPENDABLES, RAMBO 4, NEXT THREE DAYS, KICK ASS, RED, IMMORTALS, LIMITLESS, THE EAGLE, LINCOLN LAWYER, SCREAM 4, LONDON BOULEVARD, IRON LADY, SILVER LINING OF A PLAYBOOK, HUNGER GAMES, India's blockbuster 3 IDIOTS and the entire MIRAMAR library amongst over 1,200 other films for Taiwan. Prior to his own endeavor, he was a member of his father's prolific distribution team which distributed over 800 films in Taiwan, Hong kong and China.
Lin's initial endeavor in filmmaking, he was able to green light the company's production stake in what will be the first of many films, HESHER, directed by Spencer Susser, which had its World Premiere at Sundance 2010, and stars Natalie Portman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Rainn Wilson. His next film is also a highly anticipated project. ANOTHER HAPPY DAY, starring Demi Moore, Kate Bosworth, Ellen Barkin and Thomas Haden Church which won the Sundance-Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award. In addition, Lin's 2011 slate includes BERNIE, a comedy starring Jack Black and Matthew McConaughey directed by Richard Linklater.
Already an industry stalwart at a young age, Lin began his career working for his father, Jimmy Lin, one of the producers on Jet Li's breakthrough film, THE LEGEND, Jimmy Lin was also the person whom introduced Laser Disc technology to the Pan-Asian market, and then went on to set up an output deal with New Line Cinema for distribution in Taiwan. Some of the father-son past distribution success included, WEDDING SINGER, WAG THE DOG, RUNAWAY BRIDE, THE LORD OF THE RINGS TRILOGY, RUSH HOUR and SPAWN. The extensive distribution experience covered Pan-Asian regions. During his film career in the 90's, Lin has ran a successful import/export business, a local DVD manufacturing and packaging business. Lin also Partnered with NHL and Stan Lee on Lee's upcoming new comic franchise of superheroes based on the sports of the hockey league. A genuine multi-tasker, he directed a 30 minute short film and is one of only elite 30 members selected in Los Angeles for the DEA Citizen's Academy, a prestigious, private, not for Profit California Corporation working in partnership with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration to provide drug education and heightened awareness in the public sector. Lin is also an advocate for Good Shepherd Center for Homeless Women & Children who donates clothing for Christmas for the entire facility. On an ongoing basis, Lin contributes game consoles such as X BOX and PlayStations to cancer children via Make A Wish foundation. As a cancer research advocate, Lin pledged an ongoing Leukemia research grant for Denise Rich's Gabrielle's Angel's foundation in New York.
