Biography

Laura Manchester is a Los Angeles based director, actor, and producer, not to mention a rare California native (from Buellton--yes, home of the split pea soup). After getting a B.A. In theatre from Vanguard University, she moved to LA and began working as a director in avant garde theatre, specifically with the legendary Murray Mednick of Padua Playwrights. Studying film directing with the reputable Judith Weston has successfully transitioned her career to the world of film. Aside from directing and acting, you may also find her producing for Duality Filmworks, a production company specializing in post production and visual effects. Their work is featured on HBO's "Family Tree," and FXX's "The League" and they recently launched the innovative Virtual Reality company, Ovrture. Laura also works for Young Storytellers Foundation as the Program Director for Movie Makers, a writing and film production program for middle school students that culminates in the screening of their first film. It's the least flashy but most rewarding part of her career as a filmmaker.
