On Thursday, awards season festivities turned over to the Casting Society (CSA), which held its 38th annual Artios Awards honoring excellence in casting across feature films, television and theatre.

Taking place in Los Angeles, New York, and London, the Casting Society’s first in person celebration in three years added to the awards tally for highly acclaimed film and TV projects like “Everything Everywhere All at Once” and “Succession,” as well as independent fare like “Marcel the Shell With Shoes On” and “Emily the Criminal.”

Academy Award nominees “The Fabelmans” and “The Banshees of Inisherin” both received Artios awards, for Big Budget – Drama and Studio or Independent – Drama, respectively, right as the filmmakers behind them prepare to attend the 95th Oscars on Sunday.

Meanwhile, with Emmys a ways away, award-winning shows like “Abbott Elementary” and “Yellowjackets” got more love for their debut seasons, this time from the Casting Society.

The ceremony honors top casting spanning films, TV and theater. The celebrations were in-person for the first time in three years, taking place in Los Angeles, New York City and London, with hosts Yvette Nicole Brown, Amber Ruffin and Gordin Griffin, respectively.

Egot winner Rita Moreno received career honors with the Lynn Stalmaster Award, which was presented by her “80s for Brady” co-star Glynn Turman. The Associated Casting Director / Unscripted Casting Producer Spotlight Awards went to Joy Gordo, Jenn Noyes and Martin Ware. Other top honors included United Agents (London), Leslee Feldman, Black Theatre United, Jessica Sherman and Simone Bär.

The casting pros behind Abbott Elementary, Succession, Hacks and Yellowjackets took home some of the prime TV hardware at the triad of Artios ceremonies held in Los Angeles, New York and London. The Casting Society of America has revealed the nominees for the 38th Artios Awards, the annual ceremony that recognizes the year’s achievements in television, film and theatre casting.

In the TV category, Netflix and HBO/HBO Max tied with 11 nods. Netflix’s series include “Inventing Anna,” “Maid” and “Ozark,” while HBO and HBO Max were recognized for “Succession,” “Euphoria,” “The Gilded Age,” and more. The following streamers tied at five nominations each: Apple TV+ was nominated for shows like “Severance,” “Pachinko,” and “Ted Lasso.” Hulu got nods for “The Dropout,” “Dopesick” and others.

Broadway productions that received nominations include the revival of “Company,” “Mj the Musical,” “Music Man,” “Take Me Out,” and “Potus.” Films that did not receive non-theatrical releases (such as “Deep Water” and “The Adam Project”) were also recognized. Theatrical release nominations will be announced in January.

The winners will not be revealed until March 9, 2023, as submissions for feature film nominees don’t open up until November 1. Those nominees will be announced on January 6, 2023.

Honorees for the Hoyt Bowers Award For Excellence In Casting, Lynn Stalmaster Award For Career Achievement, Marion Dougherty New York Apple Award, Rosalie Joseph Humanitarian Award, and the Associate Casting Director Spotlight Award, will also be presented that evening, with honorees announced at a later date.

The Artios Awards will return for an in-person gala at The Beverly Hilton Hotel. The annual celebration will also mark CSA’s 40th year.
