René Pérez Joglar known as Residente is a multiple award-winning Puerto Rican rapper, writer, filmmaker, actor and global activist, who has broken stereotypes, barriers and developed new waves through his creative execution. René has won more Grammys and Latin Grammys (32 combined) than any other artist and has conquered the world of music performing in front of millions around the world. René is one of the founders of the rap group Calle 13. In addition to the music industry, René has gained recent success in filmmaking writing and directing his own award-winning music videos and personal story documentary that has officially won merits at festivals such as SXSW and Cannes. In late 2020, Sony Music Entertainment announced a multi-year joint venture with Residente to launch 1868 Studios, his ambitious production company. Residente will be writing and directing films, series and all-types of on-screen content, representing cultural narratives on-screen. More recently, he made his acting debut taking on the lead role of In the Summers, which won the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance Film Festival 2024.
