While the concept of time seems more and more like a candy bar that I left in the car that eventually warps and melts into everything, there were still a lot of amazing horror movies, TV series, and experiences in 2022, and somehow I found the time to enjoy quite a lot of them. From two excellent film festivals to many amazing movie screenings to experiences that I’ll cherish in my horror-loving heart for the rest of my life, here are my reflections on some of my favorites of 2022:
Texas Chainsaw Massacre: It’s amazing to think that that we had a year when we got a new installment in the Hellraiser, Halloween, and Texas Chain Saw Massacre franchises, and it all started with this latest chapter in Leatherface’s saga. While I don’t gel with everything that happens in this film, I can’t deny that it...

It may be best known for its pristine beaches, delectable dishes, and mesmerizing music, but for one weekend in August, Miami Beach was a thriving home to horror cinema thanks to the eighth edition of the Popcorn Frights Film Festival. Following its opening weekend of exciting premieres at the Savor Cinema in Fort Lauderdale and a week of vital virtual programming as part of its hybrid festival option for attendees at home, Popcorn Frights set its sights on the O Cinema South Beach from August 19th–21st, teaming up with the amazing team at the short film platform Alter to provide free screenings of spooky short films and frightening features all weekend long, making Miami Beach a paradise for horror fans looking to enjoy new cinematic experiences from around the world.

In the first episode of “Ragdoll,” the new cat-and-mouse cop show from “Killing Eve” creators Sid Gentle, the lead trio of detectives played by Lucy Hale, Henry Lloyd-Hughes and Thalissa Teixeira encounter a cadaver (the titular Ragdoll) stitched together from the limbs, torso and head of six separate murder victims, strung up from the ceiling.
Even Hale, a self-confessed true-crime fan, was disturbed by the gruesome sight. “I’m pretty good at compartmentalizing, obviously, what I do for a living [and] who I am, what’s real, what’s not real,” the “Pretty Little Liars” alum tells Variety.
“But this day in particular was so strange because the three of us decided not to see the Ragdoll before we shot that scene. And when we saw it, I mean, you’re kind of speechless,” she says. “It looks like a real human: the detail, the skin colour, the hair. It was dripping,...

Lucy Hale is set as a lead in Ragdoll, a crime drama series for AMC and Alibi based on the novel by Daniel Cole, Deadline has confirmed. The series hails from Sid Gentle Films, the British production company behind Killing Eve.
Adapted for television by Freddy Syborn, the six-part drama is described as a “modern-day Faustian thriller” centers on the murder of six people whose bodies have been dismembered and sewn into the shape of one grotesque body — nicknamed “The Ragdoll.”
Assigned to the shocking case are DS Nathan Rose, recently reinstated to the London Met; his best friend and boss, Di Emily Baxter; and the unit’s new recruit, DC Lake Edmunds, portrayed by Hale. The “Ragdoll Killer” taunts the police by sending them a list of his next victims, with Rose’s name among them. And with those victims to protect, our heroes soon come under intense public scrutiny.
