Writer, Director, Producer Lance Miccio was born in Brooklyn, New York.
After serving in USN Submarine service he went to work in Law
enforcement in NYC before leaving for South Carolina where he was
awarded the Liberace Scholarship to the College of Charleston SC &
studied painting and film before exchanging abroad to the United
Kingdom in Cardiff, Wales. Lance graduated with Honors from the School
of Art & Design at the University of Wales before being accepted and
studying at The Prestigious Slade School of art in London in 1995.
Lance went from a below the line to above the line player in 2002 as a screenwriter and producer with a promo trailer he created starring Francesco Quinn (Rah -Platoon) based on his screenplay "The Garrison" a tale of Dante's Inferno with the Battle of Stalingrad as a backdrop, which attracted Academy award-winning producer John Daly (Platoon,Terminator, Hoosiers ) Lance later worked with Daly & wrote a key scene for John Daly and Martin Landau's WWII feature film titled 'The Aryan Couple'.
Lance went on to direct his first TV show 'Night of the Long Knives' and become a segment producer for 'Hippies' both for the History Channel. Later he would direct 'The Jukebox From Edison to Ipod', narrated by Peter Coyote, which was nominated as Best American Documentary for The Dylan Thomas Award (The Tinny ) at The Swansea Bay Film Festival. The film was later accepted into The 60th Cannes Film Festival, and was made part of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's permanent collection in 2007.
Lance went on to direct a number of full feature documentaries "Rock 'n' Roll Made in Mexico From Evolution to Revolution' which was produced by Rock' n' Roll legend Fito de la Parra of Canned Heat. Miccio then directed another film for the same producer titled 'Living The Blues: The story of Canned Heat' . In 2010 Miccio directed 'Land of the Rising Fastball a History of Baseball in Japan' with former TV and Film star and now producer Darlanne Fluegel and Executive Producer Fred Pauzar of Blackwood Entertainment Group who produced the film . The film has been praised as the best documentary about Japanese Baseball by Yale's Anthropology Chair Dr. William Kelly and is used at the prestigious college as teaching tool in Dr Kelly's classes at Yale.
Lance Co Produced his first feature film written by Warren Lewis (Black Rain, 13th Warrior ) titled 'Brothers War' and gained his first feature film producer credit for the Hensman Brothers 'The Prey' in 2013 featuring Nick Chinlund and Danny Trejo. Lance continues to strive as one of Hollywood's hands on & hardest working independent writer, director, producers. His latest short 'Guns 'n' Hoses' was accepted into the 66th Cannes Film Festival in the short corner section. Lance's latest scripts 'Indian Ocean ' and 'Live From Texas' are presently under review for production in 2014. Lance continues to work and live in his adopted home of Venice Beach, California.
