The next season of Apple TV+’s The Morning Show will likely premiere long after the 2024 presidential election has ended, and that democratic process only scratches the surface of what real-life events the drama series could respond to with the time it has in production before release.

The Morning Show received an early renewal for a fourth season before Season 3 even premiered. At the time of this announcement, a fifth season was also in consideration.

The Morning Show is quickly booking up for season four.

The Apple TV+ media drama starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon has added another star to its cast with Boyd Holbrook, who will be joining for season four. Holbrook will play Brodie, a popular and provocative podcaster and talk show host.

The hit Apple TV+ series starring Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon has booked another star for season four. William Jackson Harper — the Emmy- and Tony-nominated actor beloved from The Good Place — has been cast in the role of Ben, who is described as the self-assured and innovative Head of Sports at the show’s fictional TV network.

The Morning Show‘s new cast continues to grow. Already announced are Oscar winner Marion Cotillard, as savvy operator Celine Dumont; Jeremy Irons as Martin Levy, the father to Aniston’s Alex Levy; and Genius: MLK/X star Aaron Pierre, in a guest role, as an acclaimed visual artist.

Academy Award winner Jeremy Irons has joined the cast of Apple TV+’s hit drama series for Season 4, the streaming service announced Tuesday.

Irons will play Martin Levy, the father of Alex Levy (Jennifer Aniston). According to TVLine, the character is described as “a charming, sharp, deep-thinking man with a sense of humor. And, in what has probably not been super fun for Alex her entire life, Martin pulls no emotional punches.” In other words, a perfect role for Jeremy Irons. He is expected to appear in approximately six episodes of Season 4.

Irons is the second Academy Award winner recently added to the cast of “The Morning Show;” Marion Cotillard is joining the series as a French businesswoman named Celine Dumont. Before Irons was cast, it was reported Oscar winner Kevin Kline had been approached for the part as well.

The Morning Show has a knack for writing itself into a corner. “It requires a lot of junk food to manage the stress,” says executive producer Charlotte Stoudt. “Part of me was like, ‘Who is that season three showrunner? I have a few words for her!’”

As said season three showrunner, Stoudt is joking. She’s now running her second writers room for the Emmy-winning Apple TV+ series, which will shoot its fourth season this summer. “We’re still writing, still breaking story. We’re very much in the middle of it,” she says, thinking back to where she left her characters in the season three finale, and adds with a laugh, “We caused ourselves a lot of problems.”

Julianna Margulies, who played a seasoned journalist who fell hard for Reese Witherspoon’s Bradley, is not returning for season 4 of the Apple TV drama, Deadline has confirmed.

Margulies first joined the drama in season 2 as a former war correspondent who went on to host Uba 365. She and Bradley began a love affair that ended up hitting the skids when Bradley hid her brother’s involvement in the Jan. 6 Capitol attacks.

On June 6, it was revealed that Academy Award-winner Marion Cotillard is joining the show for a major arc across Season 4. She will portray Celine Dumont, a savvy operator from a storied European family.

When The Morning Show returns for Season 4, it’ll do so without former series regular Julianna Margulies, our sister site Variety reports.

Margulies joined The Morning Show in Season 2 as Laura Peterson, a TV news anchor who became romantically involved with Reese Witherspoon’s Bradley Jackson. Despite the two ending their relationship in Season 3, Laura remained in Bradley’s orbit for the duration of her time on the show. That will no longer be the case moving forward.

Julianna Margulies will not be returning to Apple TV+’s “The Morning Show” for Season 4.

Sources tell Variety that the decision was made before the controversy stirred by a podcast that featured Margulies last year, and that she was offered a one-episode appearance in Season 4 that she turned down. The sources also say she has been asked about her interest in returning for a potential fifth season.

Margulies joined “The Morning Show” in Season 2 as journalist Laura Peterson, who becomes Bradley Jackson’s (Reese Witherspoon) love interest; the two break up early in Season 3, though Laura’s arc continues through the remaining episodes.

In November, while discussing the war in Gaza, Margulies made derogatory comments about Black and LGBTQ people, including that lesbian critics of Israel “offended [her] as a lesbian” since she played one on “The Morning Show.” She subsequently apologized for her remarks.

The Paley Center has announced the schedule for its 41st annual PaleyFast LA, which includes “The Morning Show,” “Loki” and “Avatar: The Last Airbender.”

This year’s PaleyFest will take place from April 12 to April 20 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, and as usual, features screenings of never-before-seen TV footage and conversations with series stars.

“We’re thrilled and honored to bring ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender’ to PaleyFest this year, and we look forward to discussing bending, the Four Nations, and, of course, cabbages with all of you,” showrunner and writer Albert Kim said in a statement.

"The Overview Effect" isn't a series finale — Apple TV+ renewed The Morning Show for Season 4 in late April, shortly after filming wrapped — but with its kumbaya energy and tidy resolutions, it certainly feels like one, particularly where Alex Levy (Jennifer Aniston) and Bradley Jackson (Reese Witherspoon) are concerned.

Firstly, a big shout out to Mark Duplass, who has been constantly posting about mental health awareness on Instagram while candidly talking about his own struggle. Several weeks ago, I complained about how his character, executive producer Chip Black, got pretty much sidelined in the latest season of Apple TV’s The Morning Show. Well, I should probably retract that complaint after the latest episode, which also happens to be the season finale. Not that Duplass had a lot of screen time in it, but his impact was felt throughout. And in an uncharacteristically restrained season finale, Chip is the only one who got to scream and drop a galore of curse words, which is a huge deal.

It is sort of funny how the latest seasons of two big-ticket shows (the other one being HBO’s Succession) based their stories on huge corporate deals which are about to change everything.

Things are not looking good for Bradley Jackson (Reese Witherspoon) and Cory Ellison (Billy Crudup) in an exclusive first look at the Season 3 finale of “The Morning Show.”

Episode 9 ended with Cory being accused of grooming Bradley, in an article from the gossip rag The Vault that featured a leaked photo of him helping her back to her hotel room while drunk. The clip shows him desperately knocking on Bradley’s door in hopes of talking to her about the situation.

A defeated Bradley — who quit her job at Uba’s evening news desk, live on the air, before the end of Episode 9 — shows up behind the glass pane at the door and faintly asks Cory to leaver her alone.

“Bradley! Bradley! Hey, listen I completely understand why you’d be upset with me. Obviously, I’ve got a lot of explaining to do,” Cory says at the beginning of the clip.

One of the newest additions to Apple TV+’s Emmy-winning drama, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the cutthroat world of morning news at a time of dramatic cultural change, Beharie joined in September as Chris Hunter, an Olympic gold medalist who takes on the morning anchor position of Reese Witherspoon’s Bradley Jackson at the network Uba. When racist emails at her expense emerge, on the part of Uba board member Cybil Richards (Holland Taylor), Christina is put in the uncomfortable position of interviewing the offender on-air about the messages, and how they reflect on the organization.

Beharie joined Jon Hamm, Stephen Fry, and Tig Notaro in coming aboard the series, which was renewed for a fourth season before its third debuted.

One thing you gotta give Bradley Jackson: She was right to freak out.

The maverick news anchor played by Reese Witherspoon on “The Morning Show” has been off-kilter since Season 3 premiered on September 13, and for good reason; not only was she at the Capitol on January 6, 2021, but her brother Cal (Joe Tippett) was one of the insurrectionists and assaulted a police officer.

Because this is “The Morning Show,” nothing is ever enough. Bradley had to be at the center of history, and she had to have a deeply personal conflict of interest. Despite the number of people storming the Capitol that day, she had to run into her brother, coincidence be damned, he had to hit a police officer, and there had to be video evidence of everything to make matters so much worse.

But Bradley Jackson doesn’t do things by half. Why settle for personal entanglement in matters of criminal prosecution?...

Uh, can someone go check on Bradley Jackson? Girlfriend is in a bad way by the time the end credits roll on this week’s The Morning Show (not that we can blame her).

If you’ve been watching The Morning Show in the past two months, you already know that season 3 is a trip. But if you haven’t, you might want to start. Although the series began four years ago as a sort of prestige drama, attempting to tackle serious issues like the #MeToo movement and cancel culture, by season number three, it’s pretty much left those ambitions behind to embrace its soapy and sensational nature for maximum effect. The stars of The Morning Show constantly make controversial choices. That’s what makes them relatable, according to the creative team behind the Apple TV+ series, who had promised eyebrow-raising decisions to come from their starring protagonists — played by Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon — in the currently airing third season.

And following last week’s 2020 flashback reveal that Witherspoon’s Bradley Jackson buried evidence around the Jan. 6 insurrection, the sixth episode in the media drama placed Aniston’s Alex Levy in the hot seat as she decides to blur ethical lines — once again — when it comes to her personal relationships.

Subtlety is not a quality I’d associate with Apple TV’s The Morning Show. I never had a complaint about that, as the show works thanks to its hyper-melodrama, but when you are handling a story about credit stealing that led to a suicide attempt, some amount of sensitivity is probably needed. Not that the latest episode is any less entertaining than usual, but the approach it takes with this story doesn’t sit right with me. However, that’s just a personal opinion, and a recap article is not exactly the place to share my own viewpoints. But since I am doing it already, I should also mention that it is really frustrating to see this show continuing to portray Alex Levy as this messiah in the current season, and The Morning Show Episode 6 was no exception, sadly.

When did “The Morning Show” Season 3 Premiere?

After last week’s satisfying, wish-fulfilling episode, it’s only fear to expect The Morning Show to deliver something dark and herowing this week. Adhering to that, the show delivered exactly that: an hour of captivating drama where the good guys try to outweigh the bad but mostly fail. Although it is hard to distinguish between good and bad in this show, you know what I mean. Billy Crudup, inarguably the show’s best performer, gets his biggest opportunity to showcase his talent this season, and he doesn’t let it go wasted, unsurprisingly. It is a big party day at Cory Land, and everyone at Uba is gearing up for it. Not that all of them are particularly excited to attend the party, but given that it is a party thrown by the CEO, making your presence felt is sort of mandatory, after all.

It’s funny that after the ugliness of Uba’s history got out, Cory wanted to refocus on doing the news, not being the news.

On The Morning Show Season 3 Episode 1, being the news was right up there on his list, as they had an entire media blitz surrounding sending someone into orbit on a formerly untested manned rocket.

As they say, be careful what you wish for because you might just get it.

What happened on the aptly titled "White Noise" was different, though.

After Uba’s data was breached and the studio was effectively held hostage for a short time, revelations began circling amongst the staff. It was only a matter of time before it got outside of Uba.

These weren’t just any accusations, either. It was highly probable, if perhaps not provable by legal definitions, that decisions were made based on race, and the results weren’t pretty.

When Apple TV+ first launched, one of its marquee shows was undoubtedly "The Morning Show." Starring Steve Carell, Jennifer Aniston, and Reese Witherspoon as the anchors of a popular morning talk show in trouble, it quickly gained notice for its star-studded cast as much as for its deliberate parallels to the upheavals in real-life broadcast journalism of the time.

Over the seasons, the series has become less directly based on real-life events, but echoes of familiar stories still remain.
