Jauretsi Saizarbitoria was born in Miami to a Cuban mother and Basque father who owned Little Havana's Centro Vasco, a Cuban institution for music and food, with the original ownership dating back to 1950's Havana where her grandfather founded it.
She moved to New York at an early age and dove into Print media for over a decade with Senior positions at Paper Magazine, Details Magazine, and Jane Magazine, while contributing to smaller independents such as The Last Magazine. Her evolution into New Media opened the door for directing and producing in the realms of web videos for brands and publications. Her comments on Entertainment culture have appeared on MTV, VH-1, E!, Style Channel, and Fox News.
After 20 years in various forms of media, Jauretsi returned to her roots, and moved to Cuba during the Obama era reconciliation between United States and Cuba in 2015. She consulted numerous American projects on the island including Showtime, Netflix, Billabong, Conde Nast, Bloomingdales, and the Vox Network. Film work includes Co-directing "East of Havana" on Cuba's hip hop scene, Story Producer for "Give Me Future" on Major Lazer's landmark concert in Cuba, and Co-directing "Quest for Cuba" on Questlove's visit to Havana.
She is a supporter of bringing more American film productions to Cuba, always dedicated to using local teams, and fostering the independent film scene, while consulting on the best strategies for a true collaboration. She is a voice for engagement efforts between Cuba and US, utilizing culture as a bridge for better understanding.
