What if a film as grim as Robert Eggers' renowned The Witch were directed with the festive flair of Wes Anderson? Even if this question never crossed your mind, CineFix has the intriguing answer with their new Trailer Mix video that trades horror for humor in re-arranged clips from The Witch.
From CineFix: "H&M just released a Christmas commercial ad directed by the great auteur, Wes Anderson. Now what if he directed a supernatural thriller? Would it be as thrilling? We've taken it upon ourselves to do the dirty work!
Trailer Mix is a biweekly series that re-imagines your favorite film trailers as entirely different genres!

Executive Producer: Dustin McLean"

Break has a new web series aimed at budget-conscious movie prop aficionados. The digital entertainment company released the first episode of its Diy series Low Budget Prop Shop on July 6, 2015, on Break’s Awe me YouTube channel.
Low Budget Prop Shop is hosted by Dustin McLean (of Cinefix’s Homemade Movies series); in the series, McLean shows viewers how to recreate props from famous movies and games, using everyday materials worth no more than $50 total. In this way, the series is similar to that of Geek & Sundry's Craft Lab, where hosts Anna Akana and Greg Aronowitz spin a wheel to determine which pop culture icon they'll create and the materials they'll use.
For the debut episode of Low Budget Prop Shop, McLean gathers cheap building materials from various stores and around the house to create a Terminator robotic arm from the Terminator film franchise (appropriate timing, considering the recent release...

We all know Princess Leia is one badass princess. Given enough time she might have escaped the Death Star all on her own. This video by Dustin McLean is a "lost" version of the grappling hook and swing scene in Star Wars: A New Hope, and in it Luke Skywalker is a complete wimp.
McLean Via Geeks Are Sexy:
In this newly discovered footage from 1977’s Star Wars, we see that Luke was reluctant about the safety of using that tiny grappling hook so Princess Leia had to take matters into her own hands.
We've posted some of McLean's other great sweded movies in the past, like Raiders of the Lost Ark, Terminator 2, Enders Game, and Transformers: Age of Extinction.

CineFix's latest "Homemade Movies" episode features a shot-for-shot sweded opening scene from Steven Spielberg's 1981 classic Raiders of the Lost Ark.
Welcome back special guest star and Homemade Movies creator Dustin McLean as we re-create one of the most beloved sequences in movie history… Indiana Jones’s narrow escape from the booby-trapped home temple in Raiders of the Lost Ark.
This is a really fun episode and one of my favorites that they've created so far. Enjoy the entertainment! I also included a side-by-side comparison video.

CineFix is at it again with another homemade movie trailer — this time presenting a cardboard and action figure-friendly remake of the The Amazing Spider-Man 2 (in theaters May 2). California-based animator and musician Dustin McLean of DustFilms directed the trailer, which is a shot-for-shot recut made without any crazy special effects — just a lot of elbow grease and love. There’s something warm and fuzzy about hearing a bunch of grown men hum the music for the trailer and seeing miniature Spidey on a string fly through the air. Dig in! For an even bigger superhero fix, top things off with these seven superhero facts that will stump even the biggest fans — also from CineFix. We don’t want to give away all the secrets of this...

Cinefix is back with another Homemade movie! This time they take on a scene from James Cameron's 1991 classic, Terminator 2: Judgement Day. This new episode of the Homemade Movies web series was directed by animator and musician Dustin McLean of DustFilms.
“I told you I’d be back.” The Terminator returns to Homemade Movies and has a friendly chat with the T-1000. Our tinfoil T-1000 terminates John Connor’s foster parents without the use of computer generated effects!
It's always fun to see people get inventive when making these sweded movie scenes. I've also included a making of video below just for the hell of it.

We here at Digital Spy have thoroughly enjoyed a new weekly YouTube series dedicated to homemade remakes of classic films.
CineFix's Homemade Movies channel has produced a number of shot-for-shot remakes of movie scenes and trailers, including Lord of the Rings, Star Trek Into Darkness, Iron Man 3 and even One Direction's upcoming 3D movie using sock puppets.
So we had a chat with filmmaker Dustin McLean from the Homemade Movies team to find out more about the project, and what we can expect in future episodes.
So what gave you guys the idea to produce 'homemade' versions of classic movie clips and trailers?
"It's actually something I've done since I was a little kid with a VHS video camera, so after making miscellaneous live action videos on YouTube for a few years I wanted to try working a show around the concept.

In this digital age, it's no surprise that consumers have more media choices than ever, whether it's watching cable television shows, movies or web-series. The same goes for "Sweded" trailers, a trend inspired by 2008's Be Kind Rewind where fans remake trailers to popular movies without any budget, going shot-for-shot despite the lacking the millions of dollars for special effects. Last November, Bryan Harley and his crew at DumbDrum created a "Sweded" version of the first trailer for Iron Man 3, and, months later, YouTube channel CineFix has made their own "Sweded" trailer, directed by Dustin McLean, who previously made a "Sweded" trailer for Man of Steel. Competing "Sweded" trailers? Like we said, should we really be surprised?

Last month, the first trailer for Star Trek Into Darkness was released, and it was only a matter of time before the trailer got "Sweded." The concept of "sweding" actually comes from 2008's Be Kind Rewind, where the main characters recreated movies using household props and costumes in place of CGI effects and movie-budget production value, and it has become customary for fans to take trailers for upcoming big-budget blockbusters and recreate them on the cheap.
In fact, the Pasadena, California-based Dustin McLean created a "sweded" trailer for Man of Steel last month and is already back with a new trailer for Star Trek Into Darkness, shot entirely on his iPhone.
