Ann Willis Ratray, who appeared on Broadway and TV before becoming a drama coach for young people including her son, Home Alone‘s Devin Ratray, died June 9 at her home in New York following a lengthy illness. She was 81.

Her death was announced by her husband of nearly 55 years, the actor Peter Ratray, known for his roles on Another World, Ryan’s Hope and in other television series.

Among Ann Ratray’s many former students were Merritt Wever (Nurse Jackie), Kaitlyn Nichol (black-ish), YaYa DaCosta (Chicago Med) and David Alvarez, who will appear in Steven Spielberg’s upcoming West Side Story.

“Ann Ratray is the reason I am an actor,” tweeted Catch-22 star Graham Patrick Martin. “Forever grateful.”

Born Ann Willis in Cranston, Rhode Island, Ratray was named “Miss Congeniality” in the 1958 Miss America Pageant, and used the prize money, in part, on training at New York’s American Academy of Dramatic Arts.

Kiersey Clemons will star in 141 Entertainment’s “Susie Searches,” a darkly comic thriller from Sophie Kargman.

“Susie Searches” centers on Susie (Clemons), an awkward college student who seizes the opportunity to bolster her popularity and her under-the-radar true-crime podcast by solving the disappearance of a classmate. Her investigation reveals that the truth and Susie aren’t at all what they seem to be.

Kargman will direct from a script by William Day Frank — the feature is based on a short film that the two previously made. Clemons will also serve as an executive producer on the project. Production on the film is set to start in London early next year.

Catch-22, Hulu’s high-profile limited series co-starring and directed by George Clooney, has cast its Merry Band. Daniel David Stewart (The Band’s Visit), Austin Stowell (Battle of the Sexes), Rafi Gavron (Counterpart), Graham Patrick Martin (Major Crimes), Pico Alexander (A Most Violent Year), Jon Rudnitsky (Saturday Night Live), Gerran Howell (Young Dracula) and Lewis Pullman (Battle of the Sexes) have joined the series, written by Luke Davies and David Michôd based on the seminal Joseph Heller novel, from Paramount TV and Anonymous Content.

Set in Italy during World War II, Catch-22 is the story of the incomparable, artful dodger Yossarian (Christopher Abbott), a bombardier for the U.S. Air Force, who is furious because thousands of people he has never met are trying to kill him. But his real problem is not the enemy, but rather his own army which keeps increasing the number of missions the men must fly to complete their service.

What will now be the crime drama’s 13-episode farewell run kicks off on Tuesday, Oct. 31 at 9/8c, with the milestone Episode 100 landing on Dec. 19. The double-episode series finale will then air Jan. 16, 2018.
