Emerald Fennell’s adaptation of “Wuthering Heights” has landed a romantic release date. The film from MRC and Warner Bros. will be released on February 13, 2026, which is Valentine’s Day Weekend.
“Wuthering Heights” is already shaping up to be one of the more anticipated dramas despite being over a year away, but that’s because the film stars Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi in the adaptation of Emily Brontë’s classic novel.
Hong Chau, Alison Oliver, and Shazad Latif co-star in the film that’s a production of Warner Bros. Pictures and MRC and is being produced by Fennell, MRC, and Robbie’s LuckyChap banner.
Fennell is both writing and directing the adaptation of the book, which is a Gothic romance set in the wild countryside of Yorkshire of the naive, innocent Cathy, the dangerous and mysterious Heathcliff, and the forces and class divides that threaten to tear them apart.

Emerald Fennell’s new take on Wuthering Heights is being fast-tracked, to ready it for 2025 awards season. More here.
Things seem to be moving pretty quickly with Emerald Fennell’s take on Wuthering Heights, the filmmaker’s follow-up to Saltburn, her fizzy dramatic thriller that released late last year. Cameras haven’t yet rolled on Wuthering Heights and already the project has been the subject of plenty of attention. That’s partly because of the casting of Margot Robbie and Jacob Elordi in the lead roles, but more than anything, it’s the high-profile snub of Netflix that has really made waves.
Fennell and Robbie reportedly turned down an offer in the region of $150m from Netflix for the film, instead preferring to take it to Warner Bros where they knew their project would be given a major cinema release. According to The InSneider, we now have further evidence of that,...

IMAX screens might just have given traditional Hollywood studios a way to push back against the power of Netflix. A few thoughts.
As much as Netflix probably planned a saga of sorts when it acquired the rights to make films based on C S Lewis’ Narnia series of books, it hadn’t anticipated the one that’s playing out off the screen.
A brief recap. Just ahead of the release of the Barbie movie, Greta Gerwig inked a deal to make Narnia movies for Netflix. Two films are covered by the deal, but come the autumn of this year, doubts were springing up. Since she signed on the dotted line, Gerwig has scored a $1.4bn box office megahit, and she’s reportedly one of a growing line of filmmakers dissatisfied with Netflix eschewing a proper theatrical release in favour of feeding its streaming service.

Lisa Nandy is not mincing her words over the Gregg Wallace allegations and the TV industry’s response.
The new UK Culture Secretary said she is “clear that people need to be heard, action has to be taken and perpetrators have to be stopped” as she stressed her lack of tolerance for bad behavior and a culture of complaints being “swept under the rug.”
She said she takes a “dim view” of big TV industry players who are not financially backing Ciisa, the yet-to-launch film and TV bullying reporting body.

With Netflix’s cinema release deal with IMAX reportedly dead, director Greta Gerwig could be about to depart the streaming firm’s upcoming Narnia movies.
In October, director Greta Gerwig was reportedly using her post-Barbie clout to try to persuade Netflix to give her planned Narnia films a cinema release. Gerwig wouldn’t be the first filmmaker to try and fail in this endeavour, and plenty of filmmakers have expressed frustration in the past about the company’s refusal to make a run in cinemas as part of its distribution model.
Perhaps because of the incredible success of Barbie, or whether the company’s new Head of Film, Dan Lin, is more receptive, or simply because it’s a good idea, speculation was rife that Netflix was prepared to do a deal with IMAX and put the film into cinemas on its large screen format.

The internet’s most outspoken auteur, Paul Schrader, has weighed in on Jacob Elordi’s “Wuthering Heights” casting.
While the announcement of Elordi as literary brooding bad boy Heathcliff was met with initial backlash, Schrader is assuring audiences that Elordi is more than ready to take on the iconic character. Schrader cast Elordi in his feature “Oh, Canada” prior to Elordi’s later breakout turns in “Priscilla” and “Saltburn”; Elordi is reuniting with his “Saltburn” writer/director Emerald Fennell for the “Wuthering Heights” adaptation. The film co-stars Margot Robbie, who produced Fennell’s prior two features through her LuckyChap banner.
Schrader told i-d that if Elordi can pull off playing Heathcliff, then the actor can “do it all.”

While it’s not uncommon for a filmmaker to earn an Oscar nomination for directing their first narrative feature—directors to do so since the turn of the century include Emerald Fennell, Jordan Peele, Benh Zeiltlin, Tony Gilroy, Rob Marshall and Spike Jonze—it’s very rare for a film debut to win best director. Only six have accomplished the feat: Marty’s Delbert Mann, West Side Story’s Jerome Robbins (sharing the Oscar with co-director Robert Wise), Ordinary People’s Robert Redford, Terms of Endearment’s James L. Back in February, we brought you the very exciting news that Sam Mendes has not one but fourBeatles biopics in the works, with each intersecting movie set to hit cinemas in 2027. And while that may still seem quite some time away, the long and winding road to Mendes' Fab Four pictures may have just found its first stop — and its first Beatle. In an Entertainment Tonight interview conducted after earning a glut of Grammy nominations, The Beatles' iconic drummer Ringo Starr heavily implied/all but outright said that Bird star Barry Keoghan is set to pick up his drumsticks in Mendes' upcoming films.
When asked his thoughts on the prospect of Irish actor Keoghan playing him on-screen, Starr coyly replied, "I think it’s great. I believe he’s somewhere taking drum lessons, and I hope not too many." Though this is far from an official casting confirmation at this point,...

Margot Robbie is clueless as to why her and Brad Pitt’s movie ‘Babylon’ was a box office flop. The 34-year-old actress and the 60-year-old Hollywood star starred as Nellie Laroy and Jack Conrad in Damien Chazelle’s 2022 historical black comedy drama, and the ‘Barbie’ star still can’t fathom why it wasn’t such a big hit with cinemagoers and is still hopeful that it will follow in the footsteps of 1994 prison drama ‘Shawshank Redemption’ and become a cult classic years later. During an appearance on the 'Talking Pictures' podcast, host Ben Mankiewicz said he couldn't understand why people disliked the flick – which made an abysmal $64.9 million worldwide - so much.Margot agreed: “I am still saying that. “I love it.”She continued: “I know I am biased because I am very close to the project and I obviously believe in it, but I still can’t figure out why people hated it.

“Gladiator II” breakout star Fred Hechinger is weighing in co-star Denzel Washington’s cut gay kiss scene in the film. Hechinger, who plays Emperor Caracalla alongside his onscreen twin Joseph Quinn as Emperor Geta, told IndieWire that the cut kiss between Denzel Washington’s character Macrinus and another man was not with either of the dual emperors.
“If I had a peck with him, they would have kept it in the movie,” Hechinger told IndieWire during a recent interview.
During the “Gladiator II” Los Angeles premiere, Washington clarified that the so-called controversy about the kiss is irrelevant. “It really is much ado about nothing,” Washington said. “They’re making more of it than it was. I kissed him on his hands, I gave him a peck, and I killed him.” Washington previously explained that the production was too “chicken” to include the overtly queer scene.

Barry Keoghan has “work to do” if he’s going to pull off a convincing Ringo Starr.
According to the Beatles alum himself, Keoghan has been cast as Starr in the four-part film series directed by Sam Mendes. Paul Mescal is also rumored to be cast as a fellow Beatle — perhaps Paul as Paul (McCartney)?
“I think it’s great,” Starr told Entertainment Tonight of Keoghan’s casting. “I believe he’s somewhere taking drum lessons, and I hope not too many.”
IndieWire has reached out to Keoghan’s representatives for comment.
Starr, Paul McCartney, and the families of late Beatles John Lennon and George Harrison have granted full life-story and music rights for the scripted film.
Mendes will direct all four biopics, each of which will center on one band member’s Pov. Per the official announcement, the films will “intersect” with each other and “tell the astonishing story...

Barry Keoghan is set to portray Ringo Starr in Sam Mendes’ Beatles movies, according to the Beatle himself.
“I think it’s great,” said Starr to Entertainment Tonight when asked about his reaction to Keoghan’s rumored casting. “I believe he’s somewhere taking drum lessons, and I hope not too many.”
Mendes is planning to direct four biopics, each dedicated to a band member: John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison and Starr. All of the movies will be released separately in theaters by Sony Pictures. While several stars have been rumored to be circling the splashy project, including Pual Mescal and Joseph Quinn, no deals have been made with any of the cast. Sony had no comment.

Following months of speculation, The Beatles’ Ringo Starr has confirmed that Barry Keoghan is being eyed to play him in the forthcoming series of Beatles films that Sam Mendes will direct for Sony.
When asked about the prospect by Entertainment Tonight, the iconic drummer said, “I think it’s great. I believe he’s somewhere taking drum lessons, and I hope not too many.”
We were first to report on plans for the quartet of Beatles films back in February, and casting rumors have swirled ever since. While unconfirmed, it’s believed Paul Mescal is circling the role of Paul McCartney, with Harris Dickinson to play John Lennon, and Joseph Quinn to portray George Harrison. No cast deals for the film are currently in place, we’re told.

Casey Bloys has damped down speculation that Euphoria’s third season won’t start filming in the new year.
Bloys, who is Chairman and CEO, HBO and Max Content said “nothing has changed”. “Somebody said something online and then this whole thing started. We are shooting the season, I have read the scripts, we’re happy, we’re moving ahead,” he added. “I know the show gets a lot of attention now because it has created some genuine movie stars, and they have various projects that they’re working on. But we are shooting this season, so nothing has changed.”
This comes after online reports that the Sam Levinson-created show would nix its 2025 shoot and ostensibly coming to an end.
In July, HBO revealed that the third season of the youth-skewing drama would shoot its third season in January, with filming pushed back from 2024 as Levinson was still working on scripts.

After months of rumors that Barry Keoghan would star in Ridley Scott’s “Gladiator II,” the director spoke about Keoghan’s planned casting in the New York Times this week. Due to scheduling conflicts, Keoghan departed the swords-and-sandals sequel to film Emerald Fennell’s “Saltburn” in summer 2022.
“I love Ridley Scott,” Keoghan told IndieWire during a recent interview for the release of his latest film “Bird.” “I think he is just legendary. And again, Ridley is another one that you just jump on that opportunity. It didn’t work for scheduling reasons. But feck, man, you know, it’s like this guy is comparing me to these actors that I admire and, from a filmmaker like him, it was really nice to read that. It really was. I’m a massive fan of … Paul [Mescal]. Paul’s a friend, and I’m really excited. I love ‘Gladiator.’ So I’m really...

It’s no secret that big studios have been throwing hefty sums to attract top talent and prime projects. But sometimes, it’s not just about the paycheck—it’s about making the right choice for your vision. That’s exactly what Margot Robbie did when she turned down Netflix’s $150 million offer for Wuthering Heights in favor of a deal with Warner Bros.
It is a move that might’ve shocked many, especially in an era where streaming giants like Netflix have become the dominant force in film distribution. But for Robbie, it isn’t about the money; it is about supporting the kind of cinematic experience, she believes in.

Executives at Netflix are reportedly stunned that they couldn’t acquire Saltburn director Emerald Fennell’s Wuthering Heights adaptation.
Given that Warner Bros hasn’t exactly covered itself in glory over the past few years, we can’t quite call this a ‘feel good’ story, but we feel comfortable dubbing it a ‘victory for cinema’.
In case you haven’t been following this one, it concerns the studio destination for director Emerald Fennell’s next project: a star-filled updating of Emily Brontë’s brooding gothic tragedy, Wuthering Heights.
Fennell is a filmmaker in demand following her Oscar-winning screenplay for 2021’s Promising Young Woman and then the immense pop culture splash made by last year’s Saltburn. When it became clear that she’d next be coating a literary classic (Wuthering Heights) with her own unique brand of provocative pop-glitz, interest in the project heightened further. Then, when Margot Robbie and...

Historically, Netflix has typically been the biggest bidder in the room, ready to throw down some serious cash to acquire whichever project they have in their sights, but that could be changing. According to Variety, Netflix offered Emerald Fennell (Saltburn) a whopping $150 million for her upcoming adaptation of Emily Brontë’s classic novel Wuthering Heights, but she turned it down.
Instead, Fennell took a $80 million offer from Warner Bros., which reportedly “shocked” Netflix as they “had outbid [every other studio] for so long.” The reason comes down to Fennell wanting a theatrical release for the film, which Warner Bros. fully supports, promising a wide release and a full marketing campaign. “Netflix has the biggest number of subscribers and scale, so they can afford to play the game that they’re playing,” said Eric Handler, an analyst at Roth Capital Partners. “But there’s a growing contingent of directors and movie stars who are saying,...
