- Likes sailing and cruising on a sailboat. Has sailed the Great Lakes in Michigan, Biscayne Bay and offshore in Florida and Lake Texoma on the Texas/Oklahoma border. Taught sailing classes to younger children at sailing camps.
- Likes attending and volunteering for charity car shows and events for any good cause. Has been known to DJ some charity events.
- Likes muscle and sports cars and once Solo raced with SCCA and held a SCCA Safety Steward License. Likes to do performance modifying to his own cars and worked for General Motors. A member of the Porsche Club of America.
- Was a DJ at a radio station in Michigan and has compiled a personal list of musical Geniuses that include, John Lennon, Brian Wilson, James Brown, The Doors, Phil Collins, Genesis, Harry Nilsson, Talking Heads, Beatles, The Who, Pink Floyd, Peter Gabriel and the Geniuses, who recognized other Geniuses, Phil Spector and Berry Gordy Jr. Is a big fan of Creedence Clearwater Revival. Also great 60's Motown influences like James Jameson & The Funk Brothers, Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell. Great harmony bands of the 60's & 70's, Simon & Garfunkel, The Beach Boys, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young, The Mama's & The Papa's, The Bee Gee's to name a few.

- Got his start as a DJ, News, and Weatherman, at Bay City Central High School in his sophomore, through senior years. WCHW was an educational, progressive rock radio station, which was shared with rival High School, T. L. Handy, whom had a Classical musical program in the afternoon.
- Rick almost was Madonna's room mate. They were born in the same hospital (Mercy) just 12 days apart.
- Graduated from Bay City Central High School, Class of 1977, with no senior yearbook or class photo.
