Nigel Osner is a film maker, a quirky actor/performer, a writer and a
lyricist
In the late 1980's his children's story, 'Magic in Ravenswood', was published by Heinemann in the UK. Subsequently he adapted the story into the book and lyrics of a musical called 'Goblins Don't Scare Us', with music by BB Cooper. The musical was premiered in London in 2002/3 at the New End Theatre in London. It won a competition to be performed in Delaware, USA, in November 2008.
He has also written the book and lyrics for 'Rock Heaven' (music Scarlett Deva Antaloczy), a cheerful rock/swing musical about a murderer, a rock star, a groupie and a lot of cyborgs.
He started performing cabaret in the 1990's, concentrating increasingly on his own lyrics and monologues. He performed mainly in London at venues including Pizza on the Park, the King's Head Theatre, Islington, and the Jermyn Street Theatre.
He put live cabaret aside in 2005, when he began his interest in film. He has appeared in several shorts based on his cabaret characters, using his words and lyrics. They are 'Just One More Night', 2005, 'Just One More Bite', 2007. and 'The Revelation of Reverend Jones', 2008. All three shorts have received many festival awards and nominations. He has acted in short films for others and played his first part in a feature film called 'The Drummond Will', completed in 2010. For this role he was nominated as best supporting actor in the Newport International Film Festival 2010.
As a screen writer, his script for 'The Revelation of Reverend Jones' was nominated for an award at the Supershorts International Film Festival 2008 and his feature length script 'The Road to Transylvania' was nominated as best script in the Swansea Bay Film Festival 2008.
He has worked a stage actor and In 2010 he revived his cabaret act. He has since performed at the Pheasantry and the Crazy Coqs in London, as well as other venues He specialises in his own character based lyrics and monologues. He has taken two very well received shows to the Edinburgh Fringe - 'Angel to vampire!' in 2016 and 'Too young to stay in, too old to go out!' in 2019.
He has written a fantasy novel called 'worldoflegends.com', available on Amazon and shortly to be on Kindle. he recently completed the sequel.
