A series version of the comic book “Hellicious” is in development at TBS with “Red Hot Chili Peppers” frontman Anthony Kiedis attached to star and executive produce, Variety has learned exclusively.

In addition to starring, Kiedis will executive produce along with Bob Forrest and Ron Burkle via their newly formed production company, Said and Done Entertainment.

The series is inspired by the comic book series created by Mina Elwell, Alan C. Medina, Kit Wallis, and Simon Oré. Per the official logline, the show “follows Cherry, the Devil’s precocious 7-year-old granddaughter, who steals the Heaven-bound soul of rock-goth icon Briggy Bundy (Kiedis). The unlikely duo stumble upon forgotten realms of the afterlife while evading Cherry’s mother and an agent from heaven sent to reclaim Briggy’s soul.”

Billie Lourd, Colin Hanks and Aisling Bea have boarded the transatlantic comedy “And Mrs,” which is set to start shooting in east London this fall.

The British feature centers on Gemma, a woman living in London (Bea) whose American fiancé Nathan (Hanks) dies shortly before their wedding day. When, with some encouragement from her sister-in-law, she decides to go ahead and marry him anyway, she has to overcome public opinion, the law of the land and even her own family’s objections.

Bea is best known for “This Way Up,” “Living With Yourself” and “Doctor Who,” and will soon be headlining the much-anticipated film based on the songs of Take That, “Greatest Day.”

Hanks was recently seen in Paramount+ drama “The Drama,” and will soon star in Peacock’s true crime limited drama series, “A Friend of the Family.”

Exclusive: Chelsea Frei is joining season 2 of Hulu’s Dollface as a recurring guest star in the role of Alison J., Deadline has learned.

Dollface follows Jules (Kat Dennings), a young woman who – after being dumped by her longtime boyfriend – must deal with her own imagination in order to literally and metaphorically re-enter the world of women and rekindle the female friendships she left behind. The series also stars Brenda Song, Shay Mitchell and Esther Povitsky.

Frei most recently starred in the Fox series The Moodys opposite Denis Leary, Elizabeth Perkins and Jay Baruchel. She can also be seen in the third season of the hit TBS series The Last O.G. and the next season of Aidy Bryant’s Hulu series Shrill.

Exclusive: Gravitas Ventures has picked up the North American distribution rights to Faith Based, the Luke Barnett-scripted indie comedy that stars Jason Alexander, Tanner Thomason, Margaret Cho, David Koechner, Lance Reddick, as well as Barnett. Vincent Masciale directed the film which will be available in select theaters and on digital, cable, and satellite VOD platforms on October 9.

The plot focuses on two slacker friends who come to the realization that every low budget Christian movie starring 90’s TV actors makes millions of dollars. They soon set out on a mission to make “A Prayer in Space”, the story of the first prayer ever to be prayed… in space.

Christoph Sanders, Carly Craig, Richard Riehle, Marlon Young, Danielle Nicolet, YouTube star Lisa Schwartz, Chris Marquette, and Danny Woodburn round out the cast.

Barnett, Masciale, Thomason, and Tim Kerigan produced the pic, which premiered at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.

Apologies if this offends anyone, but faith based films almost exclusively are terrible. In fact, they’re ripe for parody. After all, movies made on the cheap, appealing to an audience that only cares about quality in the broadest sense of the word, and can almost be assured of turning a profit, are easy targets. The upcoming film Faith Based takes a comedy and satirical look at what would happen if a couple of regular guys, on the hunt for a quick buck, opted to make one themselves. The premise has a lot of potential, which luckily for audiences, leads to a charming flick with more on its mind than simply having a laugh at this inherently silly genre. The movie is, as mentioned, a comedy, centering on two fairly dim-witted friends. Luke (Luke Barnett) and Tanner (Tanner Thomason) are buds who love cinema, aren’t the smartest, and need to make some money.

Exclusive: The Moodys star Chelsea Frei is set for a recurring role on the upcoming third season of TBS comedy series The Last O.G., starring Tracy Morgan and Tiffany Haddish.

Co-created and executive-produced by Oscar winner Jordan Peele, season two of The Last O.G. saw Morgan’s character Tray going all in on his dreams of becoming a chef, and Tray’s ex-girlfriend Shay (Haddish) collaborating with an unlikely business partner.

Frei will play Luna, a millennial Brooklynite who is politically correct to a fault. She is self-righteous and rife with contradictions; She’s a hippie, anti-consumerist who loves shopping and an ardent feminist who unironically loves The Bachelorette.

YouTube is clearing its deck, as the service gets ready to unveil its new original programming plans. As part of the spring cleaning of sorts, YouTube series “Champaign Ill,” “Ryan Hansen Solves Crimes on Television,” “Sideswiped,” and “Do You Want to See a Dead Body” won’t be back.

Those shows join previously confirmed cancelled series “Overthinking with Kat & June,” “Youth & Consequences,” and “Origin.”

YouTube isn’t completely wiping down the mat, however. Breakout hit “Cobra Kai” is back for Season 2 on April 24, and “Step Up: High Water,” currently in its second season, continues to perform well for the service. Also, comedy “Liza on Demand,” starring Liza Koshy, and sci-fi drama “Impulse” are both in production for their sophomore releases.

Meanwhile, YouTube hasn’t yet revealed the fates of comedy “Wayne,” which premiered in January, and anthology series “Weird City,” which launched in February.

Among the many Oscar nominees attending the party were “BlacKkKlansman” composer Blanchard, “Free Solo” filmmakers Elizabeth Chai Vasarhelyi, Shannon Dill, and Jimmy Chin and Melissa Berton, nominated for the documentary short “Period. End of Sentence.”

If you haven’t seen “Sideswiped” on YouTube Premium yet, creator and star Carly Craig offers a great reason to check it out. You see, if you watch the comedy series — and laugh — you’ll essentially be laughing at her own, real-life, super-awkward dating experiences.

“This is a multigenerational show about dating in the digital age,” Craig told TheWrap in a recent interview (watch it above).

“Sideswiped” is also loosely based on Craig’s own life. The 38-year-old actress and showrunner dove into dating apps, including Tinder, to research for the show. During the process, she met her fiancé. But, she said, that part probably won’t be written into the show, as she wants to keep it focused on single life.

During her research period, using an array of dating apps, Craig said she encountered a whole lot of awkward situations.

Several of Hollywood’s most successful filmmakers, producers, writers and showrunners appeared at TheWrap’s Power Women Summit on Friday to discuss the various ways they’re revolutionizing the industry by working their own perspectives into the mainstream — and making room for other underrepresented voices to do the same.

Historically, that hasn’t been the easiest thing to do in this business, said Skydance Television president Marcy Ross, who had to fight to get the Netflix comedy “Grace & Frankie” in front of viewers even with all of the proven talent attached.

“[When] we were developing it, Marta Kauffman, Lily Tomlin, Jane Fonda and my brilliant partners at Skydance — All women, that was by design — We took it to an agency at that time, a room full of men,” said Ross. “We presented the package, where we’re going to go with it, the whole theme of disenfranchised older women, and they started to laugh.

Exclusive: YouTube has given a pilot order to The Edge of Seventeen, a half-hour comedy pilot from STXtv, based on the 2016 critically praised film of the same name.

Annabel Oakes is writing and directing the pilot, which will be executive produced by the film’s writer-director, Kelly Fremon Craig. Filming is slated to begin in January 2019.

The adaptation is described as a witty coming of age series, which, in the spirit of the film, will subvert standard teen show tropes while following a high-school student and her best friend as they navigate the relationships, feelings, and realities of being a teenage girl.

This will not be a straight remake or sequel to the feature from Robert Simonds’ Stx Entertainment. It will tell new stories borrowing the tone of the film and its commitment to capturing the teen age truthfully, in the vein of Fargo FX anthology series’ interpretation of the acclaimed movie.

Screenwriters, novelists and storytellers of all kind take note: Peter Farrelly has some wisdom to share with you, both about how he approaches writing a screenplay but also how he pitches projects to studios. He’ll also tell you, like everyone should, that making films is hard. Because it is. Very.

This was a very interesting interview, with some insights into Farrelly’s way of working, as well as some specific little bits about Dumb and Dumber To, There’s Something About Mary and Ricky Stanicky, which will very possibly reunite the Farrelly Bros. and Jim Carrey once again.

With the success of the Paranormal Activity movies, it's a given that there will be numerous copycats and spoofs. Enter Paranormal Movie, a comedy that looks to follow you straight into the toilet.

Cinema Management Group is currently in talks with buyers about Paranormal Movie, a "found footage" parody that satirizes the tropes of “found footage” horror films. Directed by and starring Kevin Farley (Dirty Work), the film is currently in post-production and is scheduled for release in the first quarter of 2013.

Paranormal Movie tells the story of Larry, a bumbling and inept man-child who has spent his entire life documenting everything he does in front of a video camera. Now that he and his new girlfriend have moved into a house plagued with strange occurrences, Larry is determined to capture the poltergeist on tape and rid the home of its supernatural infestation.

There doesn't seem to be a single pressing reason for the Farrelly Brothers to have made a Three Stooges-less movie titled "The Three Stooges." Bobby and Peter Farrelly's love of the Stooges is well-known, but they should have left well enough alone after "Dumb and Dumber," a superior and certainly easier to swallow Stooges homage. For starters, the three comedians in the Farrellys' new and more direct tribute's title roles just don't have any comedic chemistry. Geographically, the Farrellys' trio may be close-knit but beyond that, there's nothing to suggest that Sean Hayes, Will Sasso and Chris Diamantopoulos are an organically united group. It should be noted that there's also nothing categorically wrong with the Farrellys reusing their idols' routines. But if the actors playing the Stooges can't form a good, cohesive troupe of comedians, resurrecting Moe, Larry and Curly is pointless.

Fox's upcoming The Three Stooges, a long-time dream project of comedy directors Bobby and Peter Farrelly, is an object of curiosity for me. The movie has bounced through a couple studios, and once almost rolled with a high-profile cast that included Jim Carrey, Sean Penn and Benecio del Toro. No sooner do we get tired of thumbing through the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue than Maxim gets temperatures rising with their annual Hot 100 issue. Coming to newsstands next week, we learn that model turned actress Rosie Huntington-Whitely has been crowed the top hot babe. She displaces Megan Fox, who tumbles to #17, in this summer’s not-eagerly-awaited Transformers: Dark of the Moon and has become the new It girl (at least this month).
