Formed in Los Angeles in 1977 by singer Exene Cervenka, vocalist and bassist John Doe, guitarist Billy Zoom and drummer D.J. Bonebra, the band simply named "X" became one of the most popular and long-lasting representatives of the first wave of punk music genre in the US. After releasing seven studio albums between 1980 and 1993, the band disbanded only to reform in the early 2000s and start touring once again. The band's first two albums "Los Angeles" and "Wild Gift" found their place on the Rolling Stone magazine's "500 greatest albums of all time" list, and the album "Los Angeles" also took 91st place on Pitchfork's Top 100 Albums of the 1980s. The band even received official acknowledgment for their work from their home city of Los Angeles which awarded them the Official Certificate of Recognition from the City of Los Angeles for their contribution to L.A.'s music and culture.
