The hit Paramount Network series Yellowstone will soon be coming to an end, and while Kelly Reilly is expected to reprise the role of Beth Dutton on the follow-up series that’s now going by the title The Madison, she’s also making some time to star in the Sky Original crime thriller series Under Salt Marsh, which is expected to start filming later this year. Today, The Hollywood Reporter has broken the news that Reilly is being joined in the cast by Rafe Spall (Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom), Jonathan Pryce (Tomorrow Never Dies), Naomi Yang (Nightsleeper), Harry Lawtey (Joker: Folie à Deux), Dinita Gohil (Sandman), Brian Gleeson (Phantom Thread), Kimberley Nixon (Fresh Meat), Mark Stanley (Happy Valley), Dino Fetscher (Fool Me Once), Lizzie Annis (The Witcher: Blood Origin), Rhodri Meilir (Tree on a Hill), and Julian Lewis Jones (House of the Dragon).

Rafe Spall will star opposite Kelly Reilly in Sky’s upcoming crime thriller series Under Salt Marsh. Also joining the cast are Jonathan Pryce, Naomi Yang and Harry Lawtey.

In the six-part drama, Spall will play a detective who returns to the fictional Welsh town of Morfa Halen to lead an investigation into the death of a child, in a community he had failed previously.

The series is set in a tight-knit community precariously nestled between towering mountains and a fast-encroaching sea that threatens its very existence. Per the synopsis: “As a once-in-a-generation storm begins to gather far out at sea, former detective-turned-teacher Jackie Ellis [Reilly] discovers the body of her eight-year-old pupil, Cefin, seemingly drowned. Rafe Spall (The English, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom) and Kelly Reilly (Yellowstone, Here) will lead Sky Original’s new crime thriller, Under Salt Marsh, now in production.

Jonathan Pryce (The Crown, Slow Horses), Naomi Yang (Nightsleeper, Wolfe) and Harry Lawtey (Industry, Joker: Folie à Deux) will also feature in the six-part limited event series, which earlier confirmed Reilly’s involvement, created and directed by Claire Oakley.

Set and shot in Wales, with dialogue in Welsh (apart from a few loan words from English and the occasional Anglo-Saxon cuss), this is a striking, reasonably original wodge of folk horror. It also represents an auspicious first feature for director Lee Haven Jones (he’s shot a few Doctor Who episodes and the like), working from a script by writer-producer Roger Williams. Said screenplay adroitly incorporates meaty subtexts about class and generational tension, the evils of contemporary land management, and sexual abuse, while still ensuring there’s plenty of screen time devoted to cannibalism, torture and very gory forms of sex.

Lucy Forbes, lead director of The End of The F***ing World’s second season, has spent much of the last 12 months in the woods and forests of deepest, darkest Wales, where she has been shooting four episodes of the Channel 4/Netflix drama and BBC dark comedy In My Skin.

All3Media International has inked a raft of sales on gritty crime drama “Hidden,” the company announced Monday. Rlj Entertainment’s streaming service Acorn TV has acquired exclusive VOD, DVD and download rights for the eight-part series in the U.S. and Canada and is set to debut the show in July.

Acorn’s vice president of programming Don Klees said: “With its tense script and stellar ensemble, ‘Hidden’ is another excellent addition to Acorn TV’s lineup of high-quality international mysteries. We’re happy to be working with our friends at All3Media International, who have been an important partner for Acorn TV.”

European deals have been closed with Dizale in France, Vrt for Belgium, Dr in Denmark, Yleisradio Oy-TV1 in Finland, Kro for the Netherlands and Nrk in Norway. All3Media expects to close five additional European deals shortly.
