- Daina Manning comes to filmmaking from a background in rock journalism, design and technical writing. Her magazine articles have appeared in Rolling Stone, Spin, LAWeekly, The Hollywood Reporter, MTV Online, Variety, Design/Build Business and the Village Voice, among many other publications. She is also the co-author of "Everything and the Kitchen Sink [Remodel your kitchen without losing your mind]" (Andrews McMeel 2005).
D. and her husband/executive producer, Michael Manning, are founding members of the SoCal Film Group, the Los Angeles-based filmmaking collective. "Fantasy Girl" is their third short film. Their debut, "Bob Goes to the Store" screened at the Silverlake Film Festival. D's second short, "Forensic Mysteries," was an Action/Cut Competition semi-finalist, as well as screening at LA Shorts Fest, the Bethel International Festival and Silverlake. Her script, "The Killer Girls Club," was a Drama Garage award winner.
