Gravitas Ventures has revealed an official trailer for Stronghold, an indie post-apocalyptic thriller made by Brazilian filmmaker Julia Camara. This will be available to watch on VOD in August - doesn't look like good enough for theaters anyway. When a distressed stranger appears, their lives are disrupted and their future threatened. The film stars Bianca A. Santos and Jaqueline Fleming as the familial pair in peril, and Oliver Rayón as the stranger who shows up, plus Keith Allen West and Narineh Tahmasebian. The film premiered at the Pan African Film Festival in LA this year. The dialogue is rough, the plot is derivative - you've been warned. // Continue Reading ›...

Welcome to the latest installment in a brand-new series here on Nerdly, Terrible Terror, in which we highlight some of, what we think, are the Worst horror movies to have ever burnt my retina with their atrociousness. Sometimes it just takes one actor to be starring in a movie, and in particular, a horror movie, for me to give it a chance. This was the case with Room For Rent which has the brilliant Lin Shaye in the lead role.
Lin Shaye is best known by horror fans for her roles in the Insidious movies, including being the lead and focus of the fourth movie in the franchise – Insidious: The Last Key. Though personally I loved her performance in the under seen dark comedy horror Dead End. Now, as a bit of a genre legend, I will give anything a watch if I know she has a decent role. In Room For Rent she plays Joyce. A woman who has recently lost here husband and to earn some much needed...

Insidious actress Lin Shaye has got a new movie coming out called Room for Rent. It’s a thriller in which we see her descend into obsession and madness as she becomes infatuated with a young man who moves into her house.
Here’s the synopsis for the film:
Lonely widow Joyce (Lin Shaye) rents out a room to make easy money. She meets mysterious drifter Bob (Oliver Rayon) and takes him in as a long-term tenant. She becomes obsessed with her much younger guest, making him the object of her deepest romantic fantasies. When a friend's betrayal derails Joyce’s fantasy world, she seizes control of her own destiny with a deadly mission to finally get what she deserves.
While this doesn’t look like it’s going to be a good film, I’m sure that there’s an audience out there that will enjoy the story it tells.

"Silly me... I can't quite reach my towel." Uncork'd Entertainment has debuted an official trailer for Room for Rent, an indie horror thriller from Arizona-based filmmaker Tommy Stovall. Horror icon Lin Shaye stars in this suspense thriller as a lonely widow who rents out a room in her house and becomes dangerously obsessed with one of her younger guests. When a friend’s betrayal derails Joyce’s fantasy world, she seizes control of her own destiny with a deadly mission to finally get what she deserves. The cast includes Oliver Rayon, Valeska Miller, Linda Cushma, Casey Nicholas-Price, and Ryan Ochoa. This looks so tacky and weird and unfortunately incredibly dumb. These kind of bad horror flicks are a dime a dozen nowadays. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Tommy Stovall's Room for Rent, direct from YouTube: Lonely widow Joyce (Lin Shaye) rents out a room to make easy money.
