"Lying, thinking... Last night how to find my soul a home." Need a dose of positivity? Or a warm, friendly (virtual) hug? Watch this short. Alone Together is a beautiful, lovely short film made by filmmaker Andy Delaney (we also featured his short Christmas Spirit last year) created during the coronavirus lockdown to bring us together wherever we may be. Maya Angelou's "Alone" is a poem about loneliness and togetherness, a "thinking out loud" reflection on vulnerability and community; "Nobody, but nobody, can make it out here alone." Though originally written in 1975, it clearly resonates with the alone/together experiences we've all lived through during the pandemic. The short features a reading of the poem by Dr. Maya Angelou's son, Guy Johnson, spoken over footage filmed by cinematographers / filmmakers from 11 different countries. It's a moving little poetic short film that feels so comforting, a heartfelt reminder that we are all in this together.

"Do you ever stop eating?" Sometimes we need a good pick-me-up, and it's a short film like this that might do the trick. Christmas Spirit is a lovely 10 minute short film made by director/editor Andy Delaney, with writer Rich With. "Working in conjunction with the charity Cruse Bereavement Care, Andy and Rich have crafted a beautifully melancholic and yet ultimately uplifting Christmas film guaranteed to leave a lump in your throat." The short is about a boy who helps his dad deal with grief at Christmas in his own unique way. Starring Curtis Flowers and introducing Bert Davis as The Boy, along with Charles Sharman-Cox, Olivia Sawbridge, Rachel Beauchamp, Dylan Tate and Jamie-Lee Pike. Not only is this an excellent short, the music they use throughout really adds to the emotion of it all. Highly recommend watch this one. Thanks to Rich for the tip on this. Description via...

Directors Andy Delaney and Monty Whitebloom’s “Love Is Blind” should perhaps be titled “Love Is Arbitrary.” There’s no reasoning to how and why love manifests or dissipates in relationships, in much the same way the film’s character motivations flip and flop as script convenience calls. who struggles to recognize the broken people who populate her purview. Her ability to see only what she wants directly correlates to the film’s selective reasoning when it comes to contrivance and cloying poignancy.
Elizabeth Krafft (Shannon Tarbet), known to her friends as “Bess,” lives in an idyllic small town in upstate New York with her ailing father Murray (Matthew Broderick) and an albino peacock named Argus. She suffers from a rare disorder that affects her ability to see people who physically exist. Her discriminating blindness has caused a rift between Bess and her caring mother Carolyn (Chloë Sevigny). Ten years prior,...
