Tarek Moussa was born in Alexandria, Egypt and was raised as an orthodox Christian. In August of 1999 he moved to the United States on his own. He started working as a sushi chef and continued the job for a year and a half while teaching himself English. He studied electronics engineering at Bunker Hill College. He worked at many different types of jobs throughout school. He worked as a limo driver, a security guard, in convenience stores, a dry cleaning shop, a shipping and handling company and several gas stations. After working 60 hours a week and going school full time, he graduated with honors in 2002 with a degree in electronic technology. He began working in electronics, in the electrical semiconductor and in the biomedical industries. He helped develop computer memory chips, heart defibrillators, ion implantations on a silicon wafer, and surgical brain medical devices. In 2003 he was discovered by a talent scout at one of the malls in the Boston area. He started doing a great deal of promotional and print work, and then began his acting career. In 2010 Tarek landed the role of Omar in the movie Sex and the city 2.
